What the camera specifications mean
The clearest hardware distinction is the Nothing phone’s dedicated periscope camera: its listed 3× optical zoom gives it a camera option the M56’s stated rear-camera lineup does not have. The Samsung instead lists a 2MP macro camera, alongside its main and ultra-wide cameras. Nothing also lists a higher-resolution front camera, 50MP versus Samsung’s 12MP.

Display, battery and charging
Both phones have FHD+ AMOLED displays with refresh rates reaching 120Hz. The Nothing panel is listed as 6.77 inches and adaptive; Samsung lists a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ panel with 120Hz maximum refresh. The small size difference and panel descriptions alone do not establish which display looks better.
Both manufacturers list a 5,000mAh battery. Their stated charging rates are 45W for Samsung and 50W for Nothing, but those nominal figures do not determine actual charging time: the cited evidence does not include comparable independent charging tests. Nothing’s product page makes usage and charging claims, including “26 hours of YouTube” and a day’s power in under 20 minutes; those are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.

Which phone should you choose?
- Choose based on zoom hardware: the Phone (3a) Pro lists a 50MP periscope camera with 3× optical zoom; the M56’s listed cameras are a main, ultra-wide and macro setup.
- Consider the documented support commitment: Samsung explicitly announced six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates for the M56. The cited Nothing page does not establish an equivalent duration, which should not be mistaken for proof that no policy exists.
- Compare actual prices before judging value: Samsung’s available figures here are discounted launch prices from April 2025, not current quotes. Compare the exact storage variants and date-stamped retailer prices.
- Use size and weight only where figures are available: Samsung specifies 180g and 7.2mm thickness. The cited Nothing page material does not establish matching dimensions or weight for this comparison.
There is no independent performance benchmark, camera shootout or battery test in the cited evidence. If those are decisive, consult comparable tests for the exact India models rather than treating processor names, camera megapixels or charging rates as a performance verdict.
