Which Galaxy phones fit a Samsung LED Cover?
Check the exact phone model and cover SKU before buying. Samsung’s documented Smart LED Cover belongs to the Galaxy S20 5G EF-KG980C family. Regional listings use different full SKUs: Canada lists EF-KG980CJEGCA, while Samsung’s Irish listing identifies EF-KG980CLEGEU. These are regional versions of the same Galaxy S20 cover family, not evidence of compatibility with other phones.

What does the LED Cover do?
On the Galaxy S20 5G cover Samsung documents, rear LEDs can display icons for calls, texts, and alarms, and can sync with some other messaging apps. The cover can also show configurable mood-light patterns when the phone is placed face down and a countdown during rear-camera use.

Samsung support describes additional behavior for some genuine LED Covers, including displaying a selected icon while the rear camera is active. These capabilities are not universal: Samsung says supported functions vary by cover type. LED View Cover and LED back cover designs also differ, so confirm features for the exact cover rather than assuming every model has the same lights, notifications, or camera functions. How do I set up a Samsung LED Cover?
- Attach the cover. On Samsung’s Galaxy S20 example, the accessory menu may not appear unless the cover is attached.
- Open Settings > Advanced features > Accessories. The precise menu name and available options can vary by phone model and software version.
- Select LED icon editor. Use it to customize the icons available for the cover.
- Test the cover’s functions. Check its supported notifications, lighting, and camera behavior on your phone; the available features depend on the specific cover.
Samsung’s view-cover support instructions describe the Galaxy S20 accessory settings and note that the menu does not display when the cover is unattached.

Opening the cover and screen unlock
Samsung says auto screen unlock when opening a cover is available only when the phone has no secure lock method set, or when Smart Lock keeps it unlocked. It does not override a secure lock.
If opening or closing the cover does not wake the display
Samsung notes that non-genuine cover types may lack the sensors needed to switch the display on or off when the cover opens or closes. This describes that particular behavior; it does not establish that every third-party cover lacks all smart functions.

Why might NFC stop working while the LEDs are active?
Samsung Hong Kong says NFC may be temporarily unavailable while LED light control is active. Its guidance says the phone may not read or write NFC tags or share data between NFC devices during that time. If NFC is needed, turn light control off or use Quick Settings to turn NFC on or off as appropriate. Settings and behavior can vary by region, carrier, software, and device; Samsung’s explanation is regional support guidance, not a universal statement about every LED Cover.

For the Galaxy S20 5G Smart LED Cover, Samsung recommends removing the cover before using Wireless PowerShare. That product-specific instruction does not establish that all wireless charging is incompatible with LED Covers.
