Quick wins for a faster PC:

Samsung Browser—called Samsung Internet in some Samsung support documentation—stands out for built-in tracker controls and a privacy dashboard, while Chrome offers a documented set of Google Safe Browsing protections and close integration with Google services. The official sources cited here do not establish which browser is faster in a current, controlled Android comparison, so speed depends on your device, versions, settings, network, and the sites you use.
At a glance: which browser fits your priorities?
| Priority | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Tracker visibility and controls | Samsung Browser | It includes Smart Anti-Tracking and a privacy dashboard that reports blocked content. These tools are not the same as a full ad blocker. Samsung’s product page and privacy dashboard documentation describe the features. |
| Ad blocking | Samsung Browser, with an add-on | Samsung says a compatible third-party app is needed to block ads; ad blocking is not built in by default. Samsung’s product page. |
| Google’s documented safe-browsing controls | Chrome | Chrome offers Standard and Enhanced Safe Browsing, with different protection and data-sharing trade-offs. Google’s Safe Browsing explanation. |
| Private local browsing session | Depends on the options you want | Samsung Secret mode and Chrome Incognito reduce some traces stored by the browser, but neither hides activity from websites or network operators. Samsung Secret mode documentation; Chrome Incognito help. |
| Speed | No evidence-based winner | The official sources cited here do not provide a current, controlled head-to-head Android speed result. |
Privacy: tracker controls are not the same as anonymity
Samsung Browser makes tracking controls visible
Samsung says its Android browser includes Smart Anti-Tracking. Its privacy dashboard can show information about blocked trackers and ads and provides safety settings. That is a practical advantage if you want controls and feedback in the browser itself. It does not mean every ad is blocked: Samsung explicitly says a compatible third-party app must be installed for ad blocking. Check that any blocker you choose is currently available and compatible with your browser version.

Chrome Safe Browsing offers a protection-versus-data trade-off
Chrome’s Standard protection checks sites against unsafe-site lists that Chrome periodically stores on the device. In some circumstances, it sends an obfuscated portion of a URL through a privacy server that hides your IP address before forwarding it to Google. Enhanced protection shares more information—including URLs and a small sample of page content, downloads, extension activity, and system information—with Google to provide stronger, more customized protection. The choice is not simply “private” versus “unsafe”: Enhanced sends more data for added protection, while Standard uses a more limited approach.

Chrome also documents usage-statistics and crash-report controls. Google says usage statistics and crash reports are sent by default and can be switched off. Optional “Make searches and browsing better” settings may include URLs; crash reports can contain site URLs, preceding activity, and memory contents from the time of a crash. Review Google’s Chrome privacy settings documentation if these reporting choices matter to you.

Private modes mainly limit what stays on the device
Samsung Secret mode is designed not to save browsing history, cookies, or search records. Samsung documents options such as password protection, keeping Secret mode active after closing the app, allowing screenshots, and anti-tracking controls. Samsung also warns that activity may remain visible to websites, your internet service provider, apps, and the phone manufacturer. Secret mode is restricted for Samsung child accounts, with age rules varying by country.
Chrome Incognito does not automatically sign you into Google or other sites, and Chrome deletes session site data after all Incognito windows are closed. Bookmarks and downloaded files remain. Google cautions that websites and network operators—including employers, schools, and internet providers—may still observe activity.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Security: compare the protections each browser documents
Security features help protect against threats such as malicious sites and unsafe connections; privacy settings govern what information is collected or retained. They overlap, but one does not automatically settle the other.
- Chrome: Google documents Safety Check, HTTPS upgrades, Secure DNS, and password warnings, alongside its Safe Browsing choices. Available controls and defaults can vary by release. See Chrome’s safety and security settings.
- Samsung Browser: Samsung documents a privacy dashboard, malicious-site warnings, and automatic-download blocking. Features and defaults may vary by device and software release. See Samsung’s browser safety documentation.
These feature lists do not prove that one browser is categorically safer in every situation. Keep the browser and Android software updated, and choose settings that match your tolerance for data sharing and risk.

Speed: there is no supported head-to-head winner
The official material cited for this comparison does not report a current, controlled Android benchmark comparing Samsung Browser and Chrome. Google’s documentation says Chrome’s V8 optimizations improve site performance and that disabling them reduces performance; it does not establish that Chrome is faster overall than Samsung Browser.
Perceived speed can change with the phone, browser version, network conditions, site, settings, and whether content is blocked. If speed is decisive for you, compare both browsers on the same device, network, and sites, using the settings you normally use. A result from a different phone or configuration may not predict your experience.

Features and ecosystem: choose the extras you will actually use
Samsung’s browser extras can depend on your device
Samsung promotes Galaxy AI functions in its browser, including Ask AI, summaries, translation, and read-aloud. Availability can vary by region, device, software version, carrier, and language; some functions require a Samsung account and a network connection. These options may suit you if you use a compatible Galaxy device and want Samsung-specific tools, but they are not a guaranteed feature set for every Android phone. Check Samsung’s current product information for availability.
Chrome fits Google services
Chrome is a natural fit if you rely on Google services and want Google’s documented security controls in the same browser. Its optional reporting and protection settings let you make choices about the information shared for diagnostics and safer browsing. Those choices matter more than simply installing Chrome and assuming every optional feature works the same way for everyone.
How to choose for your Android phone
- Choose Samsung Browser if built-in tracker controls, a privacy dashboard, and device-dependent Samsung extras are your main priorities. Add a compatible third-party blocker if you want ad blocking.
- Choose Chrome if Google’s services and its documented Safe Browsing and security controls are more important to you, and you are comfortable selecting the protection and reporting settings that suit you.
- Choose by your own speed test if page loading is the deciding factor: the available official sources do not establish an overall speed winner.
Samsung’s US product page currently calls the app Samsung Browser, while other Samsung materials use Samsung Internet. Features and names can vary across regions and releases, so check the listing and settings on your device.
