Samsung Gallery can help you find an old photo, make everyday edits, and—in supported models—remove or rework objects. Start with Search or open a picture and tap Edit; the available tools depend on your Galaxy model, software version, and region.
Find a photo without scrolling through albums
Open Gallery and tap Search. Try a descriptive keyword for a subject or place, such as “beach” or “birthday,” or use a time-based phrase such as “show me pictures from last summer.” Samsung says Gallery Search can accept text or voice commands, though availability varies by model and software version.

If the first search misses the picture, try another word or phrase. Samsung’s India support guide specifically recommends changing the keyword when it does not return the image you want. This is useful when you remember what was in a photo or when it was taken, but not its filename.
Make a quick edit with the standard tools
Open a photo and tap Edit. Depending on the device and software, the editor may offer these basics:

- Crop or rotate: Reframe a shot or correct its orientation.
- Adjust light and color: Change settings such as brightness, contrast, and saturation.
- Apply a filter: Give the image a different overall look.
Review the result and save when you are satisfied. Samsung documents these tools for Galaxy phones and tablets, but labels and controls can differ across devices.
Check whether Gallery can suggest a fix
Open a photo’s details or swipe up on the image; which route is available depends on the device. Look for edit suggestions. Samsung lists Remaster, shadow erasure, and reflection erasure as examples on supported devices. These suggestions can be a faster place to start than adjusting the image manually.

Try a more distinctive edit
Spot color
Samsung’s editing guidance includes spot color, which can make a selected color stand out while changing the treatment of the rest of the image. Look for it in the Gallery editor if your device supports it.

Custom filters
You can also create a custom filter from a photo’s look and apply it to other images, where the feature is available. This offers a way to keep a consistent style without using generative editing.

Remove or move objects on supported devices
For a distraction in the frame, open the Gallery editor and look for Object Eraser or Photo Assist. Samsung documents options to erase or move objects, as well as generative editing tools on supported Galaxy devices. The exact interface and availability vary; these features are not present on every Galaxy phone.
When using Photo Assist, Samsung’s guide describes saving the edited image as a copy, which preserves the original. Some AI functions require a Samsung account and an internet connection. Samsung’s US guide says Generative Edit output can be resized up to 12MP and generated images carry a Galaxy AI watermark; those details apply to the feature described in that guide, not necessarily every editing tool.

Choose a tool by what you want to do

Why your Gallery may look different
Samsung’s support material spans Canada, the United States, and India, and Samsung warns that screens, settings, and feature availability vary by market, model, and software version. Treat the paths here as starting points rather than universal menu instructions. If a named option is missing, it may not be supported on your device or in your region; consult Samsung support for your model and market.
