The available review evidence favors Samsung for pocket-friendly carry, a less noticeable crease and multitasking; Google’s published specifications favor Pixel for 5x optical zoom, IP68 dust and water resistance, and a stated seven years of OS and security updates. Choose according to which trade-offs matter most, and treat this as a conditional comparison rather than a matched head-to-head test.
What the available comparison can—and cannot—tell you
This comparison is between the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Google’s current listed model, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold (2026)—not the older Z Fold 7 or Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The evidence differs by phone: Google’s official specification page lists Pixel measurements and support claims, while Tom’s Guide supplies hands-on observations and test results for the Z Fold 8. There is no comparable current hands-on Pixel 11 Pro Fold review here, so cross-source figures should not be read as results from the same test.

| Displays | Tom’s Guide describes a 7.6-inch main display, a less visible crease and an anti-reflective coating. It reports multitasking with up to three apps at once without noticeable lag. | Google lists an 8-inch internal display and a 6.5-inch cover display. |

| Rear cameras | Tom’s Guide notes the lack of a telephoto zoom lens. The available evidence does not establish a direct image-quality comparison. | Google lists a 48MP wide camera, 10.5MP ultrawide with macro focus, and 10.8MP 5x telephoto camera. |
| Dust and water | Tom’s Guide says the Z Fold 8 is not dust resistant. A directly comparable matched durability test is not established. | Google lists IP68 dust and water resistance. |

The figures come from different sources and methods. In particular, the battery numbers do not constitute a head-to-head result, and the price comparison is incomplete without a current Pixel price in the reader’s region.

Which phone is easier to carry and use closed?
Galaxy Z Fold 8: the review points to pocket-friendly carry
Tom’s Guide describes the Z Fold 8 as seven ounces and pocket friendly. That supports considering Samsung if closed-phone carry is a priority, but the weight description comes from the review rather than a Samsung specification sheet in the available evidence.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold: published dimensions to weigh against
Google lists the Pixel at 239g and 10.1mm thick when folded. The Pixel’s cover display is listed at 6.5 inches, but the available sources do not establish a matched comparison of outer-screen typing comfort, shape or one-handed use. If you rely on the cover screen for most tasks, try both phones in person where possible rather than assuming display size alone predicts comfort.
Which inner display and multitasking experience fits better?
Google lists an 8-inch internal Pixel display; Tom’s Guide describes a 7.6-inch main screen on the Z Fold 8. These figures come from different sources, and screen size alone does not establish which panel is better for reading, typing or split-screen work.
The clearest hands-on advantage in the available evidence is Samsung’s reported app behavior: Tom’s Guide says the reviewer ran up to three apps at once without noticeable lag, and found the crease less visible with an anti-reflective coating. The same review notes that more wide-screen-optimized apps are needed. It also lists no S Pen support and no Flex View as drawbacks. These are practical trade-offs if you want to use the unfolded screen as a work surface rather than simply for larger viewing.
Rank #2

- RECORD. REFRAME. READY FOR SOCIAL³: Record content on Galaxy Z Fold8 and then use My FanCam³ to keep your subject center stage. The result is a social-ready video that focuses on the part of the action you really want.
- UNTETHER YOUR ENTERTAINMENT: The long-lasting battery of Galaxy Z Fold8 is built to power hours of entertainment. And when you do need to recharge, Super Fast Charging 2.0⁴ gets you back to what you love quickly.
There is no comparable hands-on Pixel 11 Pro Fold assessment here of crease visibility, glare, app behavior or multitasking speed. The listed 8-inch display makes Pixel’s internal screen slightly larger on paper than Samsung’s reviewed 7.6-inch panel, but that does not establish a better everyday display experience.
Battery and charging: keep the test conditions separate
Google lists a typical 4,806mAh battery and states that the Pixel 11 Pro Fold offers 24+ hours of battery life. This is Google’s manufacturer claim, not a result from a specified matching battery test. Tom’s Guide reports that the Z Fold 8 lasted 12 hours 19 minutes in that publication’s 5G web-surfing test. Because there is no Pixel result from the same protocol, those figures cannot show which phone lasts longer in equivalent use.
Tom’s Guide also reports the Z Fold 8 reached 70% charge after 30 minutes in its test. The available evidence does not provide a corresponding Pixel charging result under the same conditions, so charging speed is not a basis for declaring a winner here.

The strongest documented difference is zoom range. Google lists a 10.8MP 5x telephoto camera on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, alongside a 48MP wide camera and 10.5MP ultrawide with macro focus. Tom’s Guide identifies the Z Fold 8’s lack of a telephoto zoom lens as a drawback. If you often photograph distant subjects, Pixel is the better-supported choice on camera hardware.
That does not establish that Pixel produces better photos overall. The available sources do not provide direct image-quality comparisons between these current models, so low-light results, color, motion handling and portrait quality remain unresolved in this comparison.
Durability and long-term support
Google lists IP68 dust and water resistance for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and states seven years of OS and security updates. Tom’s Guide says the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is not dust resistant. An ingress rating does not make a foldable immune to all damage, and the available evidence contains no matched durability testing for the two phones.
The cited Samsung review does not establish an update-support commitment directly comparable with Google’s stated seven years. If long-term software support is a deciding factor, verify Samsung’s current commitment for the exact model and region before buying rather than inferring it from this comparison.

Price and value depend on your region
At review time, Tom’s Guide reported U.S. Z Fold 8 prices of $1,899.99 for 256GB, $2,099.99 for 512GB and $2,499.99 for 1TB. These are reported prices from the review, not a guarantee of current retailer pricing. Google’s cited technical listing does not state a Pixel 11 Pro Fold retail price, so the available information cannot establish a price or value winner. Compare current local prices at the same storage tier, along with warranty and repair availability, before deciding.
