1. Make the FlexWindow useful when the phone is closed
Choose which notifications, quick information and supported apps you want to see or use without opening the phone. Samsung describes the Flip8’s FlexWindow as bringing apps, insights, actions and assistance to the cover screen. Its Now Brief feature can surface personalized information based on schedules, routines and interests, though features and availability may differ by market or software version. There is no single menu path that can safely be assumed for every regional variant. Samsung’s localized China support page provides a FlexWindow guide covering functions, app customization and notifications; use the support page for your own model and region rather than treating that localized guide as universal.
2. Try FlexCam on a stable surface
Partly fold the phone and place it on a stable surface to frame a hands-free selfie, group photo or video. Samsung’s Canada guide says you can raise your palm to start the capture countdown, or use voice commands if enabled. This lets the phone act as its own support; it does not require you to hold it throughout the shot. Samsung Canada’s FlexCam guide gives the camera instructions, which may vary by market.

3. Use Dual Preview when someone else is in the frame
With Dual Preview, the person being photographed can see a preview on the FlexWindow while you compose the shot on the main screen. It is a useful way to let a group check its pose before you take the photo, without passing the phone around. The feature is described in Samsung’s Canada camera guide.
4. Test Auto Zoom for moving subjects
During FlexCam recording, Auto Zoom can adjust framing as people move. Try it in a short clip with your subject moving within the scene, then decide whether its automatic framing suits the shot or whether you would rather frame it yourself. Samsung describes the feature in its Canada guide; availability may vary by model or region.

5. Check stabilization before recording while moving
Samsung says Super Steady helps reduce shake when recording while moving. The company also describes Horizontal Lock, which keeps footage level by cropping the image. That crop trades some of the original frame for a level horizon, and the feature has a recording limit: Samsung specifies support on wide and ultra-wide lenses up to QHD at up to 30 fps in its Galaxy Z series announcement. Check the available settings on your own device before relying on them for a particular resolution or frame rate.
6. Know which camera specifications apply to your market
The figures below are manufacturer specifications published by Samsung Canada for devices and accessories sold in Canada. They describe camera hardware and recording modes, not independently tested image quality.

Before following a detailed menu walkthrough, check the model number, region, language and whether your device is a carrier or SIM-free variant. Samsung’s regional support pages illustrate why this matters: its Japan page lists a Japanese-language version 1.0 manual for SIM-free model SM-F776Q, modified August 7, 2026, while its China page lists an Android 17 manual for model SM-F7760. These are examples of localized documentation, not universal instructions.

Samsung announced availability beginning August 7, 2026, across 106 markets at launch; actual availability depends on market and date. The launch announcement gives the launch details. Separately, Samsung Mobile Press says the Flip8 is nearly 0.5 mm thinner and 8 g lighter than the Flip7; those are manufacturer comparisons, not independent measurements.
