Which Galaxy Tab S12 should you choose?
Choose the S12+ if portability and the lower entry price matter more
At 553g for Wi-Fi or 555g for 5G, it weighs less than the Ultra and still has a 12.6-inch screen. It is the more economical option if that display size suits your reading, note-taking or multitasking needs. These are conclusions from Samsung’s published specifications, not results from comparative hands-on testing.
Choose the Ultra if screen area is the priority
The 14.6-inch panel gives more physical workspace for split-screen tasks, drawing or viewing content, and its battery capacity is 1,000mAh larger. The trade-off is added weight: 692g for Wi-Fi or 695g for 5G, before adding a cover or keyboard.

Consider connectivity and storage before ordering
Both models are offered in Wi-Fi and 5G configurations and in 256GB or 512GB storage options in Samsung’s announced India pricing. The S12 Ultra’s Wi-Fi 7 and S12+’s Wi-Fi 6E are different standards; whether that matters depends on your network equipment and use. Choose 5G if you need mobile data away from Wi-Fi, and compare the relevant configuration prices rather than relying on the base price.

Do the S12 tablets have laptop-sized productivity features?
Samsung says both tablets run Android 17 with One UI 9 and support Multi Window with up to three sections. Its launch materials also describe Galaxy AI and Note Assist features. The included S Pen supports writing and drawing, while separate keyboard covers can provide a more laptop-like typing setup.
Those features do not by themselves establish that either tablet replaces a laptop. The fit depends on whether your required apps, file handling, peripherals and work processes operate well on Android, and whether you are comfortable using a tablet with a separately purchased keyboard. Samsung’s product positioning is not independent evidence of laptop equivalence.
Samsung says the series’ 3nm processor delivers 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% improved GPU performance compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. These are Samsung’s stated comparisons, not independent benchmark results. Samsung also lists IP68 water and dust resistance for the series. No independent testing cited here establishes real-world sustained performance, thermals or durability.

The S Pen is included with both tablets. Samsung’s S12+ product page says the charger is not included, so account for a compatible 45W adapter if you need one. Samsung lists the Pro Keyboard, Book Cover, Book Cover Keyboard Slim and Anti-Reflecting Screen Protector as separately sold compatible S12+ accessories. It says the Frame Cover is exclusive to the Ultra; confirm model compatibility when choosing any accessory.

What launch offers and ownership options did Samsung announce?
Alongside the discounts and financing promotions, Samsung says buyers may opt for Samsung Care+ ProtectMax, with plan types including comprehensive accidental and liquid damage, accidental and liquid damage, screen protection, and extended warranty. Plan costs depend on the selected coverage. Samsung also describes Galaxy Forever through Samsung Finance+ at Samsung Exclusive stores and Samsung.com, with a ₹12,499 program fee and an announced two-year structure. Review the applicable terms and total payment obligations rather than treating either program as a simple reduction in device price.
Samsung’s scheduled sale date is October 7, 2026. Before that date, availability and retailer stock cannot be assumed from the announced launch schedule.
