Choose the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE if you want an S Pen in the box, microSD expansion, or Samsung’s published IP68 dust- and water-resistance rating. Choose the iPad (A16) if you prefer Apple’s ecosystem or want to use Apple Pencil; the Pencil is an extra purchase. Neither spec sheet establishes a universal winner for performance, display quality, or value, so weigh your preferred apps and current local prices alongside the hardware.

Before deciding which is the better value, compare listings in your market for the same storage and connectivity class. Add the cost of accessories you actually need: for example, an Apple Pencil for handwriting on the iPad, or a keyboard for either tablet. Promotions and bundles can change the total, and the available evidence does not establish which device is cheaper now.

iPad (A16): Apple Pencil supported, sold separately

The iPad (A16) supports Apple Pencil (USB-C) and Apple Pencil (1st generation). Apple says the first-generation Pencil pairs and charges using a USB-C to Apple Pencil Adapter. The listed iPad box contents are the tablet, a USB-C charge cable, and a 20W USB-C power adapter; no Pencil is listed. Include the Pencil model and any required adapter in your budget. Apple’s specifications

For a no-extra-stylus-cost start, the Samsung package has the clearer advantage. If you already use Apple Pencil-compatible devices or apps, the iPad may fit your workflow better, but the stylus cost remains part of the comparison.

Samsung specifies a 10.9-inch LCD with a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz for the Tab S10 FE. Apple lists an 11-inch Liquid Retina LED-backlit IPS display for the iPad (A16), at 2360 by 1640 pixels, 264 pixels per inch, with True Tone and 500 nits of brightness. These are manufacturer specifications, and the diagonal sizes are not a direct measure of overall image quality. Samsung’s US announcement Apple’s specifications

Samsung explicitly states the Tab S10 FE’s refresh rate; the cited Apple specification does not state the iPad’s refresh rate. That is not enough to make a complete refresh-rate comparison or determine which screen looks better. No common instrumented brightness or color test is available here.

Is one faster or better for demanding apps?

Samsung names the Exynos 1580 processor in the Tab S10 FE. Apple identifies an A16 chip in the iPad, with a 5-core CPU, 4-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine. Those specifications identify different chips, but do not by themselves demonstrate which tablet is faster in a particular app. The cited material contains no matched benchmark, gaming comparison, or battery test, so a performance winner cannot be established from it. How much storage can you add?

Apple’s cited iPad specification page does not describe expandable storage. If you expect to keep large files on the tablet, compare the built-in storage configuration you plan to buy with the Samsung option of adding a card later; do not count the card as included.

Which one is more resistant to water and dust?

Samsung says the Tab S10 FE is IP68 rated based on laboratory testing: up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. Samsung cautions that resistance may diminish over time and does not advise beach or pool use. Treat this as a qualified resistance rating, not permission to submerge the tablet or a claim that it is waterproof. The cited Apple specifications do not provide a corresponding rating. Which tablet should you buy?

Choose the Galaxy Tab S10 FE if…

  • You want an S Pen included rather than buying a compatible stylus separately.
  • You want the option to expand local storage with a microSD card, subject to regional availability.
  • You value Samsung’s stated IP68 rating and understand its limits.
  • You prefer Samsung’s software and services or need a 5G tablet at a particular local price.

Choose the iPad (A16) if…

  • You prefer Apple’s ecosystem, apps, or workflows with devices you already own.
  • You specifically want Apple Pencil compatibility and are prepared to buy the Pencil and any required adapter separately.
  • You want Apple’s listed display characteristics or camera features to inform your choice.

Check these details before paying

  • Compare current local prices for the same connectivity and storage configuration; Samsung’s cited US prices are launch figures from 2025.
  • Verify that the S Pen is included in the exact regional Tab S10 FE package you are buying.
  • Price the complete setup, including a stylus, keyboard, case, or storage card only if you need it.
  • Check app compatibility for the tasks you rely on; the listed processor specifications do not substitute for a like-for-like performance test.
