Choose the Google Pixel 10 if you prefer Google’s Pixel software and want a 5× optical telephoto lens or Qi2 wireless charging. Choose the Samsung Galaxy S26 if you prefer Samsung’s One UI and Galaxy AI, or its 3× optical telephoto lens better fits how you shoot. Both are compact, 6.3-inch Android phones with published seven-year support commitments. Neither is an evidence-based universal winner: the available specifications do not establish which takes better photos, runs faster, or lasts longer in comparable real-world use.
This comparison is specifically between the base Galaxy S26 and base Pixel 10, not the other models in either family. Exact configurations, network compatibility, prices and offers depend on country, carrier and seller.

Which phone’s cameras suit you better?
Pixel 10: more optical reach
Google lists a 10.8 MP telephoto lens with 5× optical zoom on the Pixel 10, alongside 48 MP wide and 13 MP ultrawide cameras. Its Super Zoom is specified up to 20×. The 5× lens gives the Pixel a longer stated optical reach than the Galaxy S26’s 3× telephoto lens, which may be useful when photographing distant subjects.

Galaxy S26: a shorter telephoto and higher stated digital maximum
Samsung lists a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3× optical zoom, a 50 MP wide camera and a 12 MP ultrawide. Its digital zoom is listed up to 30×. A larger zoom number does not mean that the S26 captures more detail than the Pixel at that magnification: digital zoom and optical zoom are not equivalent, and these specifications alone cannot establish image quality.
Neither the megapixel counts nor the zoom labels amount to a camera shootout. The available manufacturer specifications do not show which phone produces better results in portraits, low light, moving subjects or video.

Software, AI and updates
The choice is partly about which software environment you want to use every day. Pixel 10 runs Android 16 with Google’s Pixel features and Gemini listed by Google. Galaxy S26 runs Android 16 with Samsung One UI 8.5 and Galaxy AI listed in Samsung’s US announcement. Feature availability can vary by region and may change; the cited product specifications do not establish that one phone’s AI features are better overall.

Google promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for Pixel 10. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 environmental report says seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch. Those statements are not identical promises, and should not be treated as proof that the phones will receive updates on the same schedule or stop on the same date. Battery and charging: read the claims in context
Battery figures published by the manufacturers are not results from a shared test. Google lists a typical Pixel 10 capacity of 4,970 mAh, claims 24+ hours of battery life and up to 100 hours with Extreme Battery Saver. Samsung’s India listing gives the Galaxy S26 a typical capacity of 4,300 mAh and states up to 30 hours of video playback. The figures describe different claims and usage contexts, so they do not establish which phone lasts longer for your workload.
Charging is a more direct practical distinction. Google specifies Qi2-certified wireless charging up to 15 W. It says the Pixel 10 can reach 55% in about 30 minutes when using a 30 W USB-C PPS charger or higher. Samsung lists up to 25 W wired charging for the base S26 and says it can reach 55% in around 30 minutes with the listed 25 W adapter; its announcement says the adapter is sold separately. Both list wireless charging up to 15 W, but only the Pixel specification here identifies Qi2 certification. Check the box contents for the precise model and market before assuming a charger is included. Storage, network and regional details to check
Configurations are not uniform across markets. Google lists Pixel 10 in 128 GB and 256 GB options with 12 GB RAM. Samsung’s US announcement lists Galaxy S26 in 256 GB and 512 GB options, also with 12 GB RAM, and notes that options vary by carrier and region. Compare prices at the same storage tier where one is available; do not assume every listed configuration is sold in your country.

Network support also depends on the exact model. Google lists a Pixel 10 model with mmWave and Sub-6 support, while Samsung warns that connectivity specifications can vary by market. Before buying, match the phone’s exact SKU to your country and carrier, especially if you rely on a particular 5G band or carrier feature.

Durability: IP68 is a rating, not a waterproof guarantee
Both phones are specified as IP68. Samsung describes its rating as a lab test in up to 1.5 m of freshwater for up to 30 minutes and cautions that resistance can diminish over time. An IP rating is not a promise that either phone is waterproof or immune to damage. Google lists IP68 for Pixel 10; consult its specifications for the device rating.
Quick Recap
How to choose between them
- Lean Pixel 10 if you want Google’s Pixel software, the stated 5× optical telephoto reach, or Qi2-certified wireless charging.
- Lean Galaxy S26 if you prefer Samsung’s One UI and Galaxy AI environment, or want the 3× optical telephoto option.
- Compare the exact local models if storage, 5G support, charger inclusion or an offer will decide the purchase; those details vary by market and seller.
- Do not decide from battery or camera numbers alone. The published figures are not a comparable battery trial or independent image-quality test.
