Whether it is worth buying depends on your country’s current price and the alternatives at the same storage capacity. In the US, Tom’s Guide reported a $699 starting price; that figure is not a global price, and published accounts of the increase over the S25 FE do not agree.
What’s new in the Galaxy S26 FE?
The biggest change is the processor. Samsung lists an Exynos 2500, along with Android 17 and One UI 9 at launch, according to its UK product page. Tom’s Guide identifies the newer chip and glass around the rear camera lenses as the main hardware changes from the S25 FE. SamMobile likewise describes the update as incremental, highlighting the processor and newer software.

The rest of the core specification is familiar: a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with refresh rates up to 120Hz, a 4,900mAh battery, and a four-camera setup. Tom’s Guide says the cameras and battery are essentially unchanged from the predecessor. These are reviewer assessments, not a claim that every image or usage result will match between models.

Samsung’s launch announcement emphasizes Galaxy AI and camera features. Those are part of the pitch, but they do not by themselves make the S26 FE a substantial hardware upgrade. SamMobile says new Galaxy AI features are expected to reach the S25 FE through One UI 9, so check the feature and rollout details for your region before treating them as exclusive to the new phone. Samsung’s August 27, 2026 launch announcement presents the device as bringing key Galaxy S strengths to more users; that is the manufacturer’s positioning, rather than an independent verdict.

The camera megapixel counts describe hardware, not image quality. Likewise, the 29-hour playback figure is Samsung’s estimate, not a guarantee of everyday battery life. Charging claims and availability can vary by market; Samsung’s India announcement is the source for the 45W and 30-minute figures. Samsung UK’s product page and Samsung Newsroom India’s launch announcement provide the regional details.
Is the Galaxy S26 FE worth its price?
There is no single worldwide S26 FE price or price increase to use as a reliable value verdict. Tom’s Guide reported a US starting price of $699 in its August 27, 2026 hands-on review and described that as $50 above the S25 FE’s launch price. TechRadar’s September review listed $699 for 128GB in the US, £699 in the UK and AU$1,149 in Australia, with other prices for different configurations. SamMobile described a $100 increase. Those accounts use different comparisons, so do not treat one increase as universal.

For an India-specific reference, Samsung listed the 8GB/256GB model at ₹79,999 in its September 14, 2026 announcement. That is a regional listed price, not a global equivalent. Check the current local price, storage configuration, and any trade-in or promotion before buying; then compare the S26 FE with the standard Galaxy S26, the S25 FE and the Galaxy A57 at matched storage where possible. A launch price alone cannot tell you which is the better buy now.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose the S26 FE if
- You want Samsung’s FE-size 6.7-inch display, a telephoto camera and wireless charging, and the local price compares well with the standard S26 and alternatives.
- You are buying an older phone and value Samsung’s stated long support commitment and launch software.
- You want the newer processor, while recognizing that the available Tom’s Guide review was hands-on and said full lab testing was still pending.
Consider the S25 FE or a lower-priced Samsung instead if
- You already own an S25 FE: the published comparisons describe a small hardware change, and SamMobile says new Galaxy AI features are expected to come to the older model through One UI 9.
- The S25 FE is substantially cheaper at the same storage capacity and the processor change does not matter for your use.
- The Galaxy A57 is meaningfully less expensive and you do not need the FE’s stronger performance or wireless charging. Tom’s Guide says the A57 shares the display size, resolution and brightness, with broadly similar camera hardware; it also says the FE offers stronger performance and wireless charging.
How it compares with the S25 FE, Galaxy S26 and A57
The most useful comparison is at today’s local prices and the same storage capacity. The available reviews do not establish a single current cross-market price table, so verify regional listings rather than comparing one country’s launch price with another’s.

| Phone | What the available sources establish | What to weigh before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S26 FE | Samsung lists the S26 FE’s display, Exynos 2500, 4,900mAh battery and cameras; the US starting price reported by Tom’s Guide is $699. Tom’s Guide’s initial review was hands-on, with full lab testing pending. | Current local price, matched storage, need for the newer processor, telephoto camera, software and wireless charging. |
| Galaxy S25 FE | Tom’s Guide says camera and battery hardware are essentially unchanged; SamMobile says Galaxy AI features are expected to reach it through One UI 9. | How much cheaper it is now, and whether the newer processor or launch software matters to you. |
| Galaxy S26 | The cited reviews do not establish a comparable current price or complete specification comparison for this model. | Compare the actual local price and configuration, then assess the differences that matter to your use. |
| Galaxy A57 | Tom’s Guide says it costs less in its market and shares display size, resolution and brightness, with broadly similar camera hardware; the FE offers stronger performance and wireless charging. | Whether the price saving is worth giving up the FE’s performance advantage or wireless charging. |
These comparisons do not establish benchmark results for all four phones. TechRadar reports its own benchmark and charging tests for the S26 FE; those should be read as that publication’s measurements, not merged with Tom’s Guide’s pending lab evaluation or treated as a consensus result. See Tom’s Guide’s hands-on review, TechRadar’s review and SamMobile’s review for each publication’s assessment.
Should you upgrade from a Galaxy S25 FE, S21 FE or Galaxy S22?
Galaxy S25 FE owners
An upgrade is hard to justify on hardware changes alone. The cited reviews characterize the S26 FE as incremental, with the processor and software among the notable differences. Check whether a specific One UI 9 or Galaxy AI feature you want is available on your S25 FE before paying for a new phone.

- The Galaxy S25 FE features a large, immersive Dynamic AMOLED display with smooth refresh rate and enhanced brightness, delivering vivid colors and sharp clarity whether you're streaming, browsing, or using it outdoors.
Galaxy S21 FE or Galaxy S22 owners
The S26 FE may be a more compelling replacement if your current phone no longer meets your needs and you want a larger screen, a telephoto camera, or a newer device with Samsung’s stated support commitment. The cited sources do not provide a direct test of the S26 FE against either older model, so they do not establish a measured performance, camera or battery-life improvement over them. Compare the condition and current support status of your own phone, then decide whether the S26 FE’s local price is worthwhile.

Samsung’s UK product page also identifies a Magnet Case and Samsung Care+ as ownership options. Availability, coverage and terms depend on the market, so review local details rather than assuming the same package or benefits everywhere. The phone’s listed 4,900mAh capacity and Samsung’s playback estimate are not substitutes for independent real-world battery testing.
Verdict
The Galaxy S26 FE is best understood as a small refresh with long promised software support, rather than a major leap over the S25 FE. It can make sense for an older-phone upgrade or when a strong local offer puts it ahead of the standard S26 and A57 for your needs. At a premium over a discounted S25 FE, the modest hardware changes make the value case harder to defend.
