The Ultra’s premium buys a larger display, more dedicated camera focal lengths, a higher-capacity battery and faster rated wired charging. These are specification and dated list-price comparisons, not claims from hands-on testing or current-price checks.

Samsung lists the Edge specifications and the Ultra specifications. Screen measurements are diagonal across the full rectangle; rounded corners and the camera opening reduce the viewable area.

How much thinner and lighter is the Edge?
The Edge is 2.4 mm thinner and 55 g lighter than the Ultra based on Samsung’s listed dimensions and weights. It is also slightly narrower and shorter, though both have large displays. That difference makes the Edge the clear specification choice if minimizing thickness and weight is the priority; it does not establish how either phone feels in everyday use.
What does the Ultra add to the display and cameras?
A slightly larger screen
Both displays are QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with adaptive refresh rates from 1 to 120 Hz. The Ultra’s listed screen is 6.9 inches diagonally, compared with 6.7 inches on the Edge.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning 6.9″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate, ultra‑bright up to ~2600 nits, HDR support, “Vision Booster,” and adaptive color tone — giving vivid colours, great outdoor visibility, and super‑smooth scrolling.
- Powerful internals: it runs on the new Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy (3 nm) chip, with 12 GB (or in some markets up to 16 GB) RAM and up to 1 TB UFS 4.0 storage — offering significantly improved CPU/GPU/NPU performance, especially for AI tasks, gaming, and heavy multitasking.
- Advanced quad‑camera system: 200 MP wide main sensor, plus a 50 MP ultrawide, a 50 MP periscope telephoto (5× optical zoom), and a 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom) — giving flexibility from ultra‑wide through detailed telephoto shots, and strong performance in varied lighting.
- 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W fast wired charging, wireless charging (Qi2) and reverse wireless charging — balancing long battery life with flexible charging options.
- Durable, premium build: Titanium‑frame body, protected by Corning Gorilla Armor 2 glass, with IP68 dust/water resistance, ultrasonic in‑display fingerprint sensor, modern connectivity (5G, Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth, UWB, USB‑C), and long‑term software support (Android 15 / One UI 7, promised 7 major OS/security updates).
More dedicated camera focal lengths
Both phones list a 200 MP main camera. Samsung lists a 12 MP ultra-wide alongside the Edge’s main camera, with 2x optical-quality zoom from the main camera. The Ultra adds a 50 MP ultra-wide and separate 50 MP 5x and 10 MP 3x telephoto cameras. In practical terms, the listed hardware gives the Ultra more dedicated options for framing distant subjects and wide scenes. Specifications alone do not establish which phone takes better photos; no independent comparative camera-quality measurements are established here.
What do the battery and charging figures tell you?
The Edge’s typical battery capacity is 3,900 mAh, with a rated minimum of 3,786 mAh. The Ultra’s is 5,000 mAh, with a rated minimum of 4,855 mAh. These are typical capacities measured under laboratory conditions, not guarantees of real-world runtime. The figures indicate a larger battery in the Ultra, but do not quantify how long either phone lasts for a particular user.

Samsung’s charging figures are also manufacturer claims: the Edge can reach up to 55% in around 30 minutes with a 25 W adapter, while the Ultra can reach up to 65% in around 30 minutes with a 45 W adapter. Samsung says the Ultra’s adapter is sold separately. These stated results should not be treated as a direct, independently measured comparison under identical conditions.
What was the U.S. MSRP difference?
Samsung’s U.S. MSRP price list effective September 2025 puts the Edge $200 below the Ultra at both matched storage levels. This is a dated manufacturer list price, not a current offer or a claim about prices in other countries. Samsung’s price sheet says prices may change without notice.

Which Galaxy S25 should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy S25 Edge if
- Low weight and a very thin body matter more to you than battery capacity.
- You want a large QHD+ display but do not need the Ultra’s larger 6.9-inch panel.
- The listed main and ultra-wide cameras cover your needs, and you can do without dedicated 3x and 5x telephoto cameras.
- The lower dated U.S. MSRP at the matched storage tier is the better fit for your budget.
Choose the Galaxy S25 Ultra if
- You prefer the larger listed display.
- You value the additional ultra-wide and dedicated telephoto hardware.
- You prioritize higher stated battery capacity and Samsung’s faster-rated wired charging specification.
- You consider those additional specifications worth the $200 premium shown in Samsung’s September 2025 U.S. list price at matched storage tiers.
This guidance follows the manufacturers’ listed specifications and dated MSRP; it does not claim comparative results for battery life, camera quality, thermal behavior or sustained performance.

Other specification caveats
Samsung states that the Ultra supports IP68 and describes a laboratory test involving freshwater submersion to 1.5 m for up to 30 minutes. The company cautions that resistance can diminish and does not advise beach or pool use. The cited Edge specification table does not state an IP rating, so it does not establish equivalent water resistance for the Edge.
