Samsung Galaxy S25+: Is the Bigger Screen Worth the Extra Cost?

The Samsung Galaxy S25+ is worth considering if you want a large, sharp screen, flagship speed and more charging headroom than the smaller Galaxy S25. Its main weakness is that the camera hardware is familiar rather than a major step forward. That leaves the Plus in a tricky spot: it costs more than the base model, while the Ultra adds stronger cameras and an S Pen.

Samsung Galaxy S25+ review: the verdict

The S25+ is a polished all-rounder, built around a bright, high-resolution 6.7-inch display, a flagship Snapdragon processor and a large battery. It suits people who value screen size and everyday performance more than camera upgrades or stylus features.

Its strongest case is the combination of a QHD+ screen and 45W wired charging in a less camera-focused package than the Ultra. Its weakest case is value: the base S25 costs less, and the Ultra gives camera-first buyers more hardware. TechRadar called the S25+ a strong performer but an incremental update, based on a two-week review-period test. Read TechRadar’s Samsung Galaxy S25+ review.

What you get: display, performance and support

A spacious, high-resolution screen

Samsung specifies a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 1–120Hz refresh rate. The 6.7-inch measurement is the full rectangle; Samsung says the visible diagonal is 6.5 inches when rounded corners and the camera opening are accounted for. The high resolution and large panel are the clearest reasons to choose the Plus over the smaller S25. Samsung’s launch announcement provides the display details.

Flagship speed, with long software support promised

GSMArena’s specification listing identifies a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage, running Android 15 with One UI 7 at review time. Its listing also describes Samsung’s commitment to up to seven major Android upgrades. That is a stated support promise, not a guarantee that every future software feature will reach the phone. Check Samsung’s local product listing for market-specific configurations. GSMArena’s S25+ review and specifications also list IP68 resistance.

Camera pros and cons: capable basics, limited ambition

The rear camera setup is a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization, a 10MP telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide with a 120-degree field of view. The front camera is 12MP, according to GSMArena’s specification listing.

  • Pro: A dedicated 3x optical telephoto gives you more reach than a main-camera crop for portraits and distant subjects.
  • Con: GSMArena notes that the 12MP ultrawide lacks autofocus, limiting its flexibility for close-up subjects.
  • Con: The camera hardware is not a substantial generational leap. TechRadar describes the main cameras as resembling the previous generation and points readers seeking Samsung’s best camera hardware toward the Ultra.

For everyday snapshots, the array is versatile enough to cover common shooting distances. But if camera versatility or zoom is the deciding factor, compare the S25 Ultra before buying; its 3x and 5x telephoto modules give it a hardware advantage. Actual image differences depend on the subject, lighting and shooting conditions, so the specification alone does not establish how noticeable every gap will be.

Battery and charging: useful capacity, test-dependent runtime

Samsung lists a 4,900mAh typical battery capacity and cautions that actual battery life varies with network conditions and use. In TechRadar’s review, the S25+ ran for 18 hours 45 minutes in the battery rundown; the reviewer also reported a full day of mixed work and play with their sample. Those are observations from one review and test method, not a runtime guarantee. TechRadar’s comparison table gives the rundown as 18:46, a one-minute discrepancy within the same article.

  • Powered by the custom Snapdragon 8 Elite (3 nm) chipset, paired with 12 GB RAM and fast UFS 4.0 storage — delivering strong performance for apps, multitasking, gaming, and new on‑device AI tasks.
  • Triple‑rear camera system: 50 MP main (wide) + 12 MP ultra‑wide + 10 MP telephoto (3× optical zoom), plus a 12 MP front camera — capable of high‑quality photos and 8K / 4K video recording.
  • 4,900 mAh battery with 45 W wired fast charging, 15 W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging — giving solid all‑day battery life and flexible charging options.
  • Built with premium materials (glass + aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2), IP68 water/dust resistance, and includes long‑term support: Android 15 with One UI 7, and Samsung’s promise of up to 7 years of OS/security updates.

The phone supports 45W wired charging. Samsung recommends its original 45W Power Adapter and data cable for the S25+ and says the adapter and cable are sold separately; buying them is a need-based choice if you do not already have a compatible charging setup. The smaller S25 is described by TechRadar as charging at 25W, while some OnePlus rivals offer faster charging. Galaxy S25+ vs S25 vs S25 Ultra

Phone Best reason to choose it Main trade-off versus the S25+
Galaxy S25 Smaller size and lower price TechRadar’s comparison describes a smaller FHD+ display and 25W charging, versus the S25+’s QHD+ screen and 45W charging.
Galaxy S25+ Large QHD+ display and 45W charging without moving to the Ultra Its camera hardware is less ambitious than the Ultra’s, and it does not include the Ultra’s S Pen.
Galaxy S25 Ultra More camera hardware, including 3x and 5x telephoto modules, plus an S Pen Costs more and is a larger device; it also has anti-reflective Gorilla Armor glass that the S25+ lacks.
OnePlus 13 A comparison worth making if battery and charging are priorities TechRadar assessed it favorably against the S25+ on battery and charging speed; those are that outlet’s review-period findings, not a universal result.

The choice between the S25 and S25+ is mostly about screen size, resolution and charging, while the decision to step up to the Ultra is more about camera features and the S Pen. TechRadar’s review-era price context for the 256GB S25+ was $999 in the US, £999 in the UK and AU$1,699 in Australia; those are historical review figures, not current quotes.

Price and availability: check your market

When accessed on October 7, 2026, Samsung’s US store displayed $999.99 for the unlocked 256GB S25+ and showed the 512GB selection as out of stock. Pros and cons at a glance

Pros Cons
  • Large 6.7-inch QHD+ display with 1–120Hz refresh rate.
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite performance and 12GB RAM in GSMArena’s listed configuration.
  • 45W wired charging and a 4,900mAh typical battery capacity specified by Samsung.
  • Samsung’s stated commitment to up to seven major Android upgrades.
  • Camera hardware is an incremental update rather than a major leap.
  • The 12MP ultrawide lacks autofocus.
  • No S Pen or anti-reflective Gorilla Armor glass, both available on the Ultra.
  • Its price positioning can make the base S25 or S25 Ultra a better fit for different priorities.

Who should buy the Samsung Galaxy S25+?

Choose the S25+ if you want a large, sharp Samsung screen, flagship performance and 45W wired charging, but do not need the Ultra’s camera system or S Pen. Choose the base S25 if a smaller phone and lower price matter more than QHD+ resolution and faster charging. Consider the Ultra if zoom range, camera hardware, anti-reflective glass or a built-in stylus are central to your decision. If you are comparing phones primarily on charging speed and battery, include the OnePlus 13 and weigh TechRadar’s review-period comparison against your own usage and local pricing.
