The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE and Nothing Phone (4a) take different approaches: Samsung offers a 3× optical-zoom camera and a published UK security-update endpoint through 31 October 2031, while Nothing lists a higher-resolution 120 Hz display and a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera. What the differences mean in everyday use
Display: higher resolution on Nothing’s specification sheet
The Nothing Phone (4a) has a slightly larger listed screen and a higher resolution: 2720 × 1224 compared with the S24 FE’s 1080 × 2340. Both are specified at 120 Hz. Those specifications establish a pixel-count difference, not that one screen looks better in every situation; brightness, calibration, content and viewing conditions also affect what a person sees.

Cameras: different zoom hardware, not a guaranteed winner
Samsung specifies a 50 MP main camera, 12 MP ultra-wide and 8 MP telephoto with 3× optical zoom and OIS. The Phone (4a) review lists a 50 MP main, 8 MP ultra-wide and 50 MP periscope telephoto. Megapixels and lens design alone do not establish photo or video quality. TechRadar’s reviewer said the Phone (4a) struggled against an older S24 FE in their comparison; that is the reviewer’s assessment, not a controlled lab result or a guarantee for every scene.
Battery: capacity does not settle endurance
The listed typical capacities are 4,700 mAh for the S24 FE and 5,080 mAh for the Phone (4a). A larger capacity does not by itself prove longer real-world battery life: display settings, network conditions, software and usage patterns all matter. The available figures do not provide a like-for-like battery test.

- The Galaxy S24 FE packs a large 6.7‑inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with adaptive 120 Hz refresh rate, enhanced brightness and a “Vision Booster” mode — ideal for clear, bright visuals even outdoors.
Updates: Samsung has a dated UK endpoint
Samsung’s UK product page states that S24 FE security updates are valid through 31 October 2031. This is a UK-page statement, so check the support terms for the country where you will buy and use the phone. The Phone (4a) review’s Android and Nothing OS versions describe its software at review time; they do not establish a comparable update end date.

Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy S24 FE if documented support matters most
- You value Samsung’s published UK security-update endpoint, after confirming the applicable terms in your region.
- You want the listed 3× optical-zoom telephoto hardware and Samsung’s Galaxy software and ecosystem features.
- You can find it at a price that makes sense for the exact storage and condition you want.
Consider the Nothing Phone (4a) if its hardware and design fit your priorities
- You are drawn to its higher-resolution display specification or periscope telephoto camera hardware.
- You prefer Nothing’s design and software approach.
- You are willing to judge camera quality and battery life using comparable tests rather than infer results from megapixels or battery capacity.
Make the comparison fair before buying
- Check the current price in your country for each phone and the exact RAM/storage configuration.
- Match condition, warranty, seller and included items; avoid comparing an in-stock retail offer with an out-of-stock listing or a launch price.
- If camera, performance or battery life is decisive, look for tests conducted under comparable conditions. The specification figures alone do not establish a winner.
