The clearest price reference is Samsung’s $759.99 MSRP effective September 2025—not a current sale price. Best Buy lists the exact unlocked 256GB model, while refurbished listings are a separate option with different warranty and condition risks. Check the selected configuration and checkout terms before treating any advertised saving as a deal.
What counts as the Galaxy S24 256GB?
This is the standard Galaxy S24 with 256GB of internal storage—not the S24+, S24 Ultra, or S24 FE, and not the 128GB version. Samsung’s September 2025 US MSRP file identifies the unlocked 8GB/256GB Onyx Black model as SM-S921UZKEXAA and lists an MSRP of $759.99. That is a dated MSRP reference, not evidence of today’s selling price. Samsung’s September 2025 MSRP file also helps distinguish the specific SKU from similarly named models.
Best Buy’s Galaxy S24 256GB unlocked product page identifies an Amber Yellow configuration and lists compatibility with several US carriers and MVNOs. Compatibility lists are a starting point, not a guarantee that every network feature will work with every SIM or eSIM. Confirm the exact model and service with your carrier, especially for 5G, VoLTE, and eSIM.
Where to check for a real offer
The available official and retailer listings do not establish a dependable current new-device price. Use the exact configuration page and confirm the offer again at checkout; older stock can be limited by color or seller.

- Samsung: Check the Samsung US phone offers page for any direct S24 offer and read its terms. Samsung’s offer page warns that trade-in promotions generally cannot be combined with other Samsung, carrier, or retailer offers unless terms specifically allow it.
- Best Buy: Check the exact unlocked 256GB listing. Verify the selected storage, condition, seller, fulfillment, return terms, and price; do not assume a search result or another storage option reflects this SKU.
- Carriers: Consider carrier offers only if you are comfortable with their plan, activation, upgrade, and bill-credit requirements. Compare the total required service cost and the time needed to receive credits with an unlocked phone’s immediate checkout price.
- Refurbished sellers: Compare Samsung Certified Re-Newed and third-party restored listings separately. A refurbished price is not a new-phone discount.
How to calculate the actual cost
Separate an immediate price reduction from value that depends on trade-in, service, financing, or a store credit. A headline such as “up to” a stated amount is not a guaranteed saving for your device.
| Offer type | What changes the cost | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Immediate discount | The checkout price is reduced now. | Selected 256GB model, condition, seller, shipping, and any coupon or membership requirement. |
| Trade-in credit | Credit depends on the device you send and its inspected condition. | Eligible model, estimate versus final valuation, deadline, and what happens if the device is rejected or valued lower. |
| Carrier bill credits | Savings arrive over future bills rather than reducing the full purchase price at checkout. | Required plan, activation or new-line eligibility, credit period, and consequences of cancelling service, changing plans, paying off early, or switching carriers. |
| Financing | Payments are spread over time; that does not by itself lower the total price. | Total payments, fees, promotional conditions, and whether the advertised saving is separate from financing. |
| Gift card or bundle | Value is tied to a retailer credit or an included item, not necessarily cash off the phone. | Whether you would use the gift card or want the bundle, and whether a separate purchase is required. |
| Open-box or refurbished | The lower price reflects a different condition and potentially different coverage. | Condition grade, parts and battery, included accessories, seller, warranty, and return window. |
For a Samsung trade-in, the device generally must power on and hold a charge, have a functioning display, satisfy damage rules, avoid blacklist status, have a verified FCC ID, and be owned rather than leased. It must also be reset, cleared of personal information, and have software locks disabled. Samsung may adjust a preliminary estimate after inspection. Read the Samsung trade-in FAQ for the terms applicable to the specific offer.

- 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh and a peak brightness of ~2,600 nits — giving a noticeably sharper, brighter screen than the base S24.
New, open-box, and refurbished: what changes?
| Condition | Potential advantage | Key checks |
|---|---|---|
| New | Original condition and clearer manufacturer coverage. | Confirm it is genuinely new, sold by the named retailer, and covered by the stated warranty. |
| Open-box | May cost less than new. | Inspect cosmetic grade, included box and accessories, prior activation or return status, warranty, and return policy. |
| Samsung Certified Re-Newed | Samsung describes its program as including genuine Samsung parts, a certified battery, technician inspection and cleaning, a one-year warranty, and software-update support. | Check current model, storage, stock, and price. The surfaced standard S24 product page is for 128GB, not a verified 256GB offer. |
| Retailer-restored or marketplace renewed | Can provide a lower purchase price and broader inventory. | Seller identity, actual battery condition, parts, warranty provider, return period, carrier status, and included accessories. |
Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed program describes the program-level inspection, battery, parts, warranty, and update terms. Its surfaced standard Galaxy S24 Certified Re-Newed listing is 128GB, so do not treat it as a confirmed 256GB alternative.
Walmart’s Restored Galaxy S24 256GB listing and Restored Amber Yellow listing are marketplace-style restored options, not automatically manufacturer-certified devices. Walmart’s listing warns that inspection may be done by program sellers or suppliers and that warranty terms can depend on the third-party seller. “Tested battery” should not be read as “new battery.”

Is 256GB worth paying extra for?
Choose 256GB if you keep a large photo or video library on the phone, download films, music, or maps for offline use, install large games, or plan to keep the device for years without relying heavily on cloud storage. Choose 128GB if you mostly stream, back up photos online, keep few large apps, and the price gap is substantial. Samsung’s comparison page can help confirm distinctions within the S24 range: Samsung Galaxy S24 model comparison.

Galaxy S24 128GB
Consider it when the discount is much larger than the 256GB version and your storage habits are modest. The Certified Re-Newed S24 listing surfaced by Samsung is 128GB; compare its current price and condition with the precise 256GB offers rather than assuming the larger model is available through that program.

- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
Galaxy S24 FE 256GB
The S24 FE is a different model, not a like-for-like substitute for the compact standard S24. It may suit someone prioritizing a larger display or lower price. Samsung’s December 2025 MSRP file lists a 256GB S24 FE at $709.99, which is a dated MSRP reference rather than a current offer: Samsung’s December 2025 MSRP file.
A newer standard Galaxy S model
Compare its live price with the S24’s actual checkout cost. If the gap is small, newer hardware and a longer remaining support window may justify paying more. The available price references do not establish a current newer-model comparison, so check both configurations and promotional conditions directly rather than relying on a general claim that the older phone is cheaper.

Checklist before you buy
- Confirm the condition: Look for an explicit “new,” “open-box,” “refurbished,” “renewed,” or “restored” designation. Do not use a restored listing to substantiate a new-phone deal.
- Confirm the exact model and storage: Verify standard S24, 256GB, and a US model. US variants include model families such as SM-S921U and SM-S921U1; international SM-S921B is not automatically equivalent.
- Confirm unlocked status and carrier fit: Check the precise model with your carrier for bands and features, not only the word “unlocked” in a title.
- Record the checkout terms: Note the price, shipping, tax, coupon or membership requirement, activation, trade-in, gift-card value, financing total, and bill-credit duration. Keep tax separate when comparing offers.
- Check seller, stock, and returns: Confirm who sells and ships the phone, whether your chosen color and 256GB configuration are in stock, estimated delivery, return window, restocking fee, and warranty provider.
- For refurbished devices, check what is included: Ask whether the original box, cable, SIM tool, and documentation are present, and distinguish a certified new battery from one that has merely been tested.
- For trade-in offers, save the terms: Photograph the device condition, record its IMEI and shipment tracking, remove personal data and locks, and keep proof of delivery in case the final inspection changes the credit.
