Amazon introduced Amazon Kids on Alexa in Brazil on November 10, 2022, alongside Alexa’s third anniversary in the country. It added child profiles and parental controls to compatible Echo devices; it was not a new 2026 launch or a separate device. Amazon Kids’ core controls are distinct from the optional paid Amazon Kids+ content subscription.
What Amazon announced in Brazil
The November 2022 announcement described Amazon Kids as an Alexa experience for families with children up to age 12. On compatible Echo speakers and displays, a child profile could provide more age-appropriate responses and child-focused Alexa interactions, while giving parents controls over access and routines. The launch date and features were reported by TecMundo’s Brazil launch coverage.
Amazon had previously expanded Amazon Kids to Alexa in 2018, according to Amazon’s account of its family privacy approach. The Brazilian announcement was the service’s arrival in that market, not its first appearance on Alexa globally.
What children could do—and what parents could control
Amazon Kids was designed to shape Alexa’s experience for a recognized child, not to turn an Echo into a fully sealed child-only device. Its controls and behavior can vary by device and marketplace, as Amazon’s current help documentation cautions.

How to set up a child profile
The following menu path reflects launch-era Brazilian coverage. Alexa app labels and placement can change, so a current app may present the options differently.
- Open the Alexa app and go to Configurações.
- Select Seu Perfil e família.
- Create or select the child’s profile.
- Register the child’s Voice ID and, if the device supports it, Visual ID.
- For an Echo dedicated to the child, open that device’s settings and select Amazon Kids.
This path was documented by TecMundo and Amazon Brazil. On a shared Echo, check that Alexa recognizes the child as expected; an unrecognized voice may not receive the child-specific experience.

Manage settings in the Parent Dashboard
The Parent Dashboard is the main place to manage a child’s Amazon Kids experience. Depending on device and marketplace support, parents can review activity, adjust schedules and time limits, manage content and age filters, and control supported device behavior.
The Brazilian app listing says the dashboard’s parental tools do not require Kids+ and describes management across compatible Echo, Fire tablet, Kindle, Fire TV, and other devices. It records an interface update dated August 7, 2026, with shortcuts for activity, bonus time, pauses, schedules, content, and device status. Amazon Kids is not the same as Amazon Kids+
Amazon Kids is the profile and parental-control experience. Amazon’s current help page says a child profile can be created at no additional cost on compatible devices. Amazon Kids+ is a separate, optional subscription that adds premium child-oriented books, videos, apps, games, and Alexa experiences. The Brazilian Parent Dashboard listing likewise says the parental tools do not require a Kids+ subscription. No Brazil-specific Kids+ price is established here, so check the local storefront for current subscription terms.
Privacy: what parents should review
Amazon says verifiable parental consent is required before enabling Amazon Kids on Alexa, that parents can review and delete children’s voice recordings, and that they can request deletion of a child’s profile and associated personal information. Amazon says the service was designed with COPPA compliance in mind; these are Amazon’s statements, not an independent certification. The company also says child skills included with Kids+ do not collect personal information and audio recordings are not shared with skill developers. See Amazon’s privacy explanation.

Voice recognition necessarily involves processing a child’s voice data. Before setup, read the Children’s Privacy Disclosure and decide how much activity and voice history you want retained. Parents can also:
- Check voice-history retention settings and delete recordings periodically if they do not want them kept.
- Review calling, smart-home, and shopping permissions individually.
- Check third-party skills rather than assuming a child profile makes every skill suitable for children.
Compatibility, limitations, and setup problems
Amazon describes Amazon Kids on Alexa as available on compatible Echo speakers and displays, including Echo Dot and Echo Show, but does not establish one universal feature set for every model in Brazil. Check the specific Echo’s settings and Amazon’s help documentation before relying on a particular control. Shared devices, noisy rooms, or an unrecognized voice can also lead to the wrong experience. Some Echo models have volume limits while Amazon Kids is enabled, but model support must be checked; Amazon support discusses this in its volume-control forum thread.

If setup or a control does not work, use this order:
- Confirm the Echo is registered to the correct Amazon account and marketplace.
- Update the Alexa app and Echo software.
- Confirm a child profile exists, then check Configurações > Seu Perfil e família.
- Re-register Voice ID if recognition is inconsistent.
- Confirm Amazon Kids is enabled on the specific Echo.
- In the Parent Dashboard, review content, calling, shopping, time-limit, and smart-home permissions.
- If parental consent blocks setup, complete Amazon’s verification process or use its parental-consent management options.
- If a setting is absent, check device compatibility; not every feature is supported on every model.
Amazon’s current help page also says child profiles inactive for more than 18 months are automatically removed unless managed otherwise. Families with multiple children may prefer separate profiles when ages, permissions, or schedules differ.
What changed after the 2022 launch
Amazon Brazil published a practical guide in 2023 covering profiles, voice recognition, bedtime, pauses, and child-oriented Alexa uses. In August 2026, the Brazilian Parent Dashboard listing described a redesigned management interface. Neither update changes the historical fact that Amazon Kids arrived in Brazil on November 10, 2022, and neither should be confused with a new launch announcement.
