What the price difference means
Google announced a US Pixel 10a starting price of $499 in 2026, and the US Google Store listed it from $499 on October 5, 2026. Google separately announced an India launch price of ₹49,999. Those are market-specific figures, not a global price. Samsung’s Australian S23 page listed a 128GB model as “Not for sale,” which does not establish what the phone costs elsewhere or on the used and refurbished market.
There is not enough like-for-like pricing here to calculate a meaningful price difference or name a universal value winner. Compare offers in the same country and at roughly the same time. Match storage, unlocked or carrier status, warranty, and whether each phone is new, used or refurbished; an old flagship’s asking price can vary substantially with those details.

Size and display: S23 is more compact, Pixel 10a is larger
The S23’s 6.1-inch display makes it the smaller-screen option in this pairing. The Pixel 10a has a 6.3-inch display. Both are specified for refresh rates up to 120Hz, while Samsung lists the S23’s adaptive range as 48–120Hz. Choose based on the screen size and phone dimensions you prefer; these figures alone do not establish which display looks better.
Camera: the S23 has a dedicated 3x optical telephoto camera
The clearest hardware distinction is zoom: Samsung specifies a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom on the S23. Google’s launch materials promote Pixel camera features and computational photography, but the available evidence does not establish a controlled, side-by-side image-quality winner for these exact phones.

A telephoto lens is a concrete option for framing distant subjects at its optical zoom range. It does not prove the S23 takes better photos overall. Results also depend on lighting, motion, zoom range and image-processing preferences, so consider the camera behavior you value rather than treating megapixels or software branding as a test result.
Software support: compare the stated policies, not assumed timing
Samsung’s published S23 policy is four major OS upgrades and five years of security updates. Google says the Pixel 10a receives seven years of software updates. These are manufacturer commitments; they do not guarantee that every update arrives at the same time on every regional model or carrier. Nor does the S23’s original policy period tell you how much support remains for a particular used phone bought in 2026.

Choose the Galaxy S23 if
- You want the smaller 6.1-inch-screen phone.
- A dedicated 3x optical-zoom camera matters to you.
- You prefer Samsung’s software environment and have confirmed the regional model, condition and remaining update support.
Choose the Pixel 10a if
- You prefer Google’s Android experience and Pixel camera software.
- You want the larger 6.3-inch display or a newer phone.
- Google’s stated seven-year update commitment is a priority, and the phone is compatible with your local network.

- Price: Compare current local offers rather than contrasting the US Pixel price with an S23 listing from another country.
