Samsung Galaxy Quick Panel customization is most useful when it puts the controls you reach for repeatedly where you can find them quickly. You can rearrange buttons, uncover controls on another page, and long-press some icons for more options. The exact gesture and layout depend on your One UI version and device, so start by checking which version you use.
First, identify your Quick settings layout
Samsung changes the panel access gesture and editing path across software generations. On One UI 7.0 and newer, Notifications and Quick settings can appear separately. On One UI 6.1.1 and earlier, the older shared panel approach applies. Menu names and available options can also vary by model.

One UI 7.0 and newer
Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Quick settings. On Samsung’s newer layout, this opens the settings panel separately from Notifications. To combine the views, open Quick settings, tap the pencil-shaped Edit icon, and open Panel settings; choose Together if that option appears. Swipe down from the top with two fingers to open Quick settings. This older approach exposes the expanded panel directly. To reach it with a single-finger swipe, the panel may need to be expanded first, depending on the device’s layout. Samsung documents the two-finger gesture for devices on One UI 6.1.1 or lower. Check Samsung’s version-specific instructions if the gesture or menu labels differ.

Rearrange the controls you use often
Moving frequently used controls into easy-to-reach positions can reduce repeated hunting through the panel. Choose controls based on your own routine; there is no universally best arrangement, and Samsung’s guidance does not quantify time saved.
On One UI 7.0 and newer
- Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Quick settings.
- Tap the pencil-shaped Edit icon, then choose Edit.
- Touch and hold a button, then drag it to the position you want.
- Swipe horizontally through the available-button area if you do not see the control you want.
- Tap Done to apply your changes.
On One UI 6.1.1 or earlier
- Swipe down from the top using two fingers to open Quick settings.
- Tap More options (the three vertical dots), then tap Edit buttons.
- Touch and hold a button and move it to the position you prefer.
- Tap Done.
The available-button area can span multiple pages, so swipe across it before concluding a control is missing. Samsung’s steps for editing and rearranging buttons are in its Quick settings customization guide.

Try a long press when a button may have more to offer
Touching and holding some Quick settings icons opens additional options or the relevant settings screen. This can be a more direct route than opening Settings and looking for the matching menu. The behavior is not universal: some controls may be unavailable or grayed out when their underlying feature is off. Samsung gives Wi-Fi settings while Wi-Fi is disabled as an example of a control that may not be available. Samsung describes long-press behavior and this limitation.

Choose separate or combined access to match your habit
With the One UI 7 layout, separate views let you open Notifications and Quick settings independently; the Together option combines them. Pick the arrangement that feels natural for how you move between alerts and controls. If you often reach for Quick settings, remember that the separate layout opens it from the top-right corner. This is a navigation preference, not a guaranteed speed improvement.

Keep brightness and media controls within reach
On older layouts, Samsung documents options for showing the brightness control either always or only when the panel is expanded. It also documents visibility settings for Device control and Media output: always, when the panel is collapsed, or hidden. These are useful choices if brightness adjustments, smart-home controls, or audio-output changes are frequent tasks. The exact menu names and options may vary. On newer layouts, check the available Panel settings rather than assuming the older choices are present. Samsung’s Quick Panel guide covers the older layout options.

A quick way to decide what to change
- Move buttons if you repeatedly search for the same control.
- Swipe through the edit area if a control does not appear in the first available-buttons page.
- Long-press an icon when you want to check for a shortcut to additional options or settings.
- Choose separate or combined panels according to whether you prefer Notifications and Quick settings to open independently or together.
- Check your One UI version and model before following steps from another Galaxy device, especially for layout and resizing options.
