Samsung’s 2025 India launch prices put comparable 8GB models ₹7,000 apart, but those are historical introductory prices—not today’s checkout prices.
Price difference: what Samsung announced in India
Samsung announced the Galaxy M56 5G in India on 17 April 2025 and the Galaxy M36 5G on 30 June 2025. These introductory prices are useful for comparing the original positioning, not for deciding what either phone costs now. Offers, stock, seller, and bank terms can change the price at checkout.

Comparing the same memory and storage configurations, the M56’s announced launch price was ₹7,000 higher for both 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB. That arithmetic uses the announced prices before any applicable discounts; it is not a current saving or a guarantee of today’s price gap. Check the exact variant, seller, warranty, stock, and offers before buying. Samsung’s M56 launch announcement and M36 launch announcement provide the historical figures.

Which phone is better for performance?
Samsung lists the M56 with an Exynos 1480 and the M36 with an Exynos 1380. That makes the M56 the higher-listed platform by model and process node, but those specifications alone do not quantify everyday speed, gaming frame rates, or sustained performance. No matched independent benchmark is established here, so choose it as a spec-sheet advantage rather than a proven performance result.
Display: similar size and refresh class, different panel wording
Both phones have a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate in Samsung’s announcements. The M56 is described as Super AMOLED+ and the M36 as Super AMOLED. Samsung’s M56 notice states 1200 nits HBM; the M36 notice mentions Vision Booster but does not give an equivalent brightness figure, so the published figures do not support a direct brightness ranking.

Cameras: shared 50MP OIS headline, different front-camera specs
Samsung describes both phones as having a 50MP OIS triple rear-camera system. Its M56 product listing specifies 50MP, 8MP, and 2MP rear cameras; the M36 launch notice identifies a 50MP OIS triple setup. For selfies, Samsung lists 12MP HDR on the M56 and 13MP on the M36. That one-megapixel difference does not establish which phone takes better photos.

These are manufacturer-listed capabilities, not a comparative video-quality test.

- 6.8" Dynamic AMOLED 2X QHD+ display with 1–120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, up to ~1750 nits brightness, HDR10+ support, and ultra-smooth responsiveness for gaming and scrolling.
Battery and charging: same stated capacity, different wattage
Samsung specifies a 5000mAh battery in each phone. The M56 supports 45W charging and the M36 25W, but wattage by itself does not establish charging time or battery endurance. Samsung says the M56’s 45W fast charger is sold separately; confirm package contents and compatibility for the specific regional model before buying an accessory.

Samsung lists the M56 at 7.2mm and 180g, compared with 7.7mm and 197g for the M36 on its product pages. Both launch notices describe Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection. These are manufacturer specifications and claims, not independent drop-test results.

Samsung announced six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates for each phone. Treat that as Samsung’s published support policy: its M56 product page says update information reflects current plans and is not a commitment. One UI 7 is the launch software listed in the announcements, not a statement of the current installed version.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy M56 5G if you prioritize the higher-listed chipset tier, Super AMOLED+ branding, slimmer/lighter published dimensions, or 45W charging, and the current price premium is acceptable.
- Choose the Galaxy M36 5G if you find it meaningfully cheaper at checkout, want a lower launch-price baseline, or value its listed 13MP front-camera resolution and front/rear 4K video capability.
- Compare the same configuration. The 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB launch-price comparisons are like-for-like; comparing different RAM or storage variants can distort the apparent gap.
- Verify live terms. Current price, stock, seller, warranty, bank offers, and exact regional configuration are not settled by the 2025 launch figures.
There is no established head-to-head test here for camera quality, display brightness, gaming, charging time, or battery life. If one of those matters more than listed hardware, look for an independent test of the exact models and regional variants before treating a specification difference as a real-world advantage.
