The Galaxy M56 5G and Galaxy A36 5G share key basics: a 120Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery, 45W charging and Samsung’s stated six generations of Android OS upgrades plus six years of security updates. The M56 launched at lower prices in India, but those are historical launch prices—not a reliable guide to what either phone costs now. For today’s price difference, compare the same RAM and storage configuration at the same seller, including applicable offers.

Avoid treating the processor names alone as proof of which phone is faster.

What is the India price difference?
Samsung’s launch announcements show the M56 below the A36 in the two matching 8GB configurations. These are launch-era prices, not current offers. Offer terms can change the amount payable.

| RAM and storage | Galaxy M56 launch price | Galaxy A36 launch price | Difference at launch |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8GB / 128GB | ₹24,999 | ₹32,999 | M56 was ₹8,000 lower |

Samsung’s A36 buy page displayed ₹33,999 for 8GB/128GB and ₹37,999 for 8GB/256GB during the cited search, alongside stock and promotional language. That page is dynamic, and the available results did not establish a matching current M56 price. Treat those A36 figures as a page snapshot, not a guaranteed price or a current price comparison. To find the amount you would actually pay, check both phones in the same configuration at the same retailer and compare final prices after bank, exchange and other offer conditions.

Where the phones differ in everyday use
Display, battery and charging
Both have a large, high-refresh-rate Super AMOLED display and the same stated battery capacity and charging rate. Samsung lists the M56 screen as 6.7 inches and the A36 screen as 17.01cm; these are both in the 6.7-inch class. The confirmed specifications do not establish a clear advantage for one phone in these categories.
Processors
The M56 uses Samsung’s Exynos 1480, while the A36 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Those model names identify different platforms, but without comparable independent testing they do not settle which phone performs better in games, sustained workloads or daily use. If performance is decisive, consult tests that measure both models under the same conditions.

Cameras
Samsung describes the M56 as having a 50MP OIS triple-camera system and a 12MP HDR front camera. For the A36, Samsung confirms a 50MP main-camera system and a 12MP front camera; its launch announcement specifically notes 10-bit HDR recording with the front lens. These descriptions support comparing the stated features, but not a definitive image-quality verdict. They also do not establish all secondary camera sensor details.
Build and water resistance
Samsung highlights Gorilla Glass Victus+ on both the front and back of the M56 and gives its profile as 7.2mm. Samsung specifies IP67 and Gorilla Glass Victus+ for the A36. The cited M56 material does not establish an IP rating, so do not assume that it has the A36’s stated dust- and water-resistance rating.

Software support
Samsung’s India launch announcements promise six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for both phones. This is the manufacturer’s stated support commitment at launch; the wording does not mean both devices receive identical update releases on the same date.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which phone should you buy?
- Consider the M56 if its current price is lower for the configuration you want and you value its stated Exynos 1480 platform, 50MP OIS camera system, Victus+ protection on the front and back, or 7.2mm profile.
- Consider the A36 if IP67 is an important confirmed specification, or if its current matched-configuration price and offer terms are more appealing. Samsung also identifies cases and screen protectors as compatible accessory categories; check the exact model designation before buying an accessory.
- Choose by the actual deal, not the launch-price gap if price is the deciding factor. The launch prices favored the M56 in matched configurations, but the available current-price information does not establish which one is cheaper now.
Neither phone is a universal winner on the specifications established here. The shared display, battery, charging and support promises make current matched pricing and your priorities—especially IP67, camera features and build details—the more useful deciding factors.
