The realme C85 5G puts more emphasis on battery capacity, charging speed, refresh rate, and advertised water resistance. A Smartprix comparison page updated September 16, 2026, listed both at ₹21,999, but that dated lowest-found price is not a live retailer quote.

Display: AMOLED detail or a faster advertised refresh rate?
The M36 has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED panel with a stated 120Hz refresh rate, according to Samsung’s June 30, 2025 launch announcement. The realme C85 page advertises a 144Hz LCD. That gives the C85 the higher stated refresh rate, while the M36 offers the higher-resolution AMOLED panel.

A higher refresh rate can make supported motion appear smoother, but it does not by itself determine sharpness, contrast, color, or overall display quality. Choose based on the panel characteristics you value rather than treating 144Hz as an across-the-board display win.

Battery and charging: C85 leads on listed capacity and wattage
realme lists a 7000mAh battery and 45W fast charging for the C85. Samsung lists a 5000mAh typical battery and 25W charging for the M36. Samsung’s India product page gives the M36’s rated minimum capacity as 4905mAh, says actual battery life varies with network environment and use, and notes that the 25W fast charger is sold separately.
The figures give the C85 the paper advantage in capacity and charging wattage, but they are not comparative endurance or charging-time test results. Screen use, network conditions, software, and charging equipment can affect what a buyer experiences; no head-to-head battery test is established here.

Cameras: the M36 specifies OIS
Samsung lists a 50MP triple rear camera with OIS, a 13MP front camera, and 4K recording on both front and rear cameras. The Smartprix comparison lists a 50MP main camera and an 8MP front camera for the C85, but the official realme page reviewed does not establish an equivalent OIS specification.

Software support: Samsung publishes a specific commitment
Samsung announced six generations of Android upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy M36. Samsung’s India product page also lists a user manual for Android 16, version 1.0, dated October 10, 2025. The realme India page reviewed did not establish a comparable C85 update commitment; that does not prove that no policy exists.
If a documented support promise is important to your purchase, the M36 has the clearer commitment in the available product information.

Durability: compare the claims, not just the labels
Samsung cites Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for the M36. realme advertises IP69 Pro water resistance and MIL-STD 810H shock testing for the C85. These claims address different kinds of protection and should not be read as a controlled durability ranking.
realme cautions that water resistance may gradually lose effectiveness and that damage caused by liquid immersion is not covered by warranty. Check the warranty terms for the exact handset and region, and do not treat a resistance rating as permission to expose a phone to water.

Price difference: the dated comparison showed a tie
Smartprix’s comparison page, last updated September 16, 2026, listed a lowest-found price of ₹21,999 for each phone. This is a dated aggregator snapshot, not a guaranteed current price or a retailer checkout offer. It does not establish that the listed phones had identical storage, stock status, seller terms, or warranty coverage.
Samsung’s original India launch prices were introductory offers announced on June 30, 2025: ₹16,499 for the 6GB/128GB M36, including a ₹1,000 instant bank discount; ₹17,999 for the 8GB/128GB model; and ₹20,999 for the 8GB/256GB model. Samsung said sales would begin July 12, 2025, through Samsung.com, Amazon, and selected retail stores. Those launch prices are historical, not current offers. A comparable India launch price for the C85 was not established by the official realme source reviewed.
Before buying, compare the same RAM and storage configuration and confirm the live checkout price, seller, stock, and regional warranty. The available matched snapshot alone does not show a price advantage for either phone today.
Which phone should you choose?
Choose the Samsung Galaxy M36 5G if
- You prefer a Full HD+ AMOLED display over a higher advertised LCD refresh rate.
- You want a main camera with explicitly specified OIS.
- You value Samsung’s published six-generation Android upgrade and six-year security-update commitment.
Consider the realme C85 5G if
- You prioritize its listed 7000mAh battery or 45W charging specification.
- You prefer its advertised 144Hz refresh rate.
- You value the manufacturer’s stated water-resistance and shock-testing features, while understanding the stated limitations.
There is no evidence here for declaring a universal winner: the choice depends on which features matter to you and the current price of the exact configuration you can buy.
