Choose the Galaxy M36 5G for its sharper AMOLED display and more capable camera hardware; choose the Galaxy M17e 5G for its larger stated battery and lower launch price. Both have 120 Hz displays and long software-support commitments, but their screens, cameras and battery capacities differ. The comparison below uses Samsung’s published specifications and India launch announcements; it does not establish which phone performs better in independent testing.
India prices: launch figures versus current listings
Samsung’s launch prices are historical, not live offers. The M36 figures below come from Samsung’s June 2025 India announcement; the M17e figures come from its March 2026 announcement.

How the specifications compare
| Feature | Galaxy M36 5G | Galaxy M17e 5G | What the difference means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED, 120 Hz | 6.7-inch HD+ PLS LCD, 120 Hz | The M36 has a higher-resolution AMOLED panel. Both list a 120 Hz refresh rate, but that figure alone does not make their display quality equivalent. |
| Rear cameras | 50 MP main camera with OIS, plus 8 MP and 2 MP cameras | 50 MP main camera plus 2 MP depth camera; Samsung’s product page does not list OIS | The M36 has optical stabilization and a broader listed camera system. Specs alone do not establish which takes better photos in real-world conditions. |
| Front camera and video | 13 MP front camera; Samsung’s launch release states 4K video recording | 8 MP front camera; FHD recording listed | The M36 has higher stated front-camera resolution and a higher listed video capability. |
| Processor | Samsung Exynos 1380, 5 nm | MediaTek Dimensity 6300 | These are different chipsets; no cited head-to-head benchmark establishes a performance winner. |
| Battery | 5000 mAh typical | 6000 mAh, as stated in Samsung’s March 2026 launch announcement | The M17e has the larger stated capacity. Actual battery life depends on usage and conditions. |
| Software support | Six Android generations and six years of security updates announced by Samsung | Six OS generations and six years of security updates from the first global launch date, according to Samsung’s product page | Both advertise extended support, but the stated start-point wording differs. |
| Protection | Samsung states Gorilla Glass Victus+ protection | Samsung lists an IP54 rating | These are different protection claims, not interchangeable guarantees for water exposure. |
| Announcement timing | June 2025 | March 2026 | The M17e was announced later; announcement timing alone does not establish a support end date. |
Which phone fits your priorities?
Choose the Galaxy M36 5G if display and camera features matter more
- You want FHD+ resolution and an AMOLED panel rather than an HD+ LCD.
- You value a rear main camera with optical image stabilization and the additional listed rear cameras.
- You want the higher stated front-camera resolution and 4K video capability.
Choose the Galaxy M17e 5G if battery capacity and entry price lead
- You want the larger stated battery capacity.
- You are considering the lower-cost 4GB/128GB launch configuration, while remembering that the launch price is historical.
- You are comfortable with an HD+ LCD and a simpler listed camera setup.
What the specifications do—and do not—settle
Samsung’s published figures make the core trade-off clear: the M36 emphasizes screen resolution and camera features, while the M17e pairs a larger stated battery with lower launch pricing. Neither the megapixel counts nor chipset names alone prove real-world photo quality, speed or battery runtime. Those outcomes vary with software, workload and conditions, and the available specifications do not provide a controlled head-to-head test.
