Galaxy M35 vs M17: specifications at a glance
These are India-market models. Samsung launched the M35 on July 17, 2024. The M17 product page dates its launch to October 10, 2025; Samsung Newsroom announced it on October 13 and said sales would begin that day. Which phone has the better display?
Both use FHD+ Super AMOLED screens, but they prioritize different things. The M35 lists a refresh rate up to 120 Hz, compared with up to 90 Hz on the M17. A higher refresh rate can make compatible motion, such as scrolling, appear smoother. The M17’s listed diagonal is slightly larger: 6.7 inches versus 6.6 inches for the M35. Choose the M35 if refresh rate matters more; choose the M17 if you prefer the larger stated screen.

How do their cameras and video compare?
Both phones list a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 2 MP macro camera. The M35’s ultrawide camera is listed at 8 MP, while the M17’s is 5 MP. The M35 also lists UHD 4K recording at 30 frames per second; the M17 lists FHD recording at 30 fps.
Those are specification differences, not a controlled comparison of photo or video quality. Resolution and OIS alone do not establish which phone produces better-looking results in a particular scene. Samsung describes the M17’s “No Shake Cam” as OIS and notes that results vary with lighting and shooting conditions.

Which has the longer battery life?
Samsung lists typical battery capacities of 6000 mAh for the M35 and 5000 mAh for the M17. It also gives different manufacturer playback estimates: up to 31 hours of wireless video playback for the M35 and up to 18 hours of video playback for the M17. Samsung’s figures use manufacturer-defined conditions and are not a controlled head-to-head test, so they should not be treated as a direct prediction of everyday battery life. Actual endurance depends on usage, settings, network conditions and other factors.
Which is easier to carry, and which is more durable?
The M17 weighs 192 g, 30 g less than the M35’s 222 g, and is 7.5 mm thick versus 9.1 mm. It is slimmer and lighter, though its listed body is slightly taller. Samsung lists an IP54 rating for the M17 and markets it with Gorilla Glass Victus. IP54 is not a guarantee of protection against immersion or every exposure to water; Samsung cautions that water resistance can diminish. Samsung markets the M35 with Gorilla Glass Victus+ but does not list an IP rating on the cited specifications page.

What about performance and software support?
Chipsets
Samsung lists the Exynos 1380 in the M35 and Exynos 1330 in the M17. Chipset names alone do not establish how much faster one phone feels in daily use. No controlled benchmark or thermal comparison is available here, so choose based on the listed features rather than assuming a measured performance advantage.
Updates
Samsung states that the M35 is eligible for four generations of OS upgrades and five years of security updates. For the M17, Samsung states six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates, with its product page listing security support through September 30, 2031. Samsung says update plans may change. The M17 therefore has the longer published support commitment, which may matter if you intend to keep a phone for several years.

What is the M35 vs M17 price difference?
Samsung Newsroom India announced these M17 launch prices in October 2025: ₹12,499 for 4/128 GB, ₹13,999 for 6/128 GB and ₹15,499 for 8/128 GB. The lowest price was described as a net price inclusive of a special launch offer, so it should not be read as a guaranteed ongoing price. Samsung’s launch announcement.

A Smartprix page updated October 7, 2026 showed indicative prices of ₹29,999 for the M35 and ₹18,964 for the M17. Those figures do not establish matching RAM and storage configurations, live availability, or a guaranteed transaction price. Smartprix M35 price page; Smartprix M17 price page. Samsung’s own product pages showed “Not for sale” when checked, so they did not provide a current official price.
For a meaningful price comparison, match RAM and storage, then check the same day’s seller, stock, warranty market and offer conditions. Do not treat the third-party figures as a verified saving or price difference between equivalent versions.
Which phone should you choose?
- Choose the Galaxy M35 if you prioritize its listed 120 Hz refresh rate, 6000 mAh typical battery, 8 MP ultrawide camera, stereo speaker support or 4K/30 video recording.
- Choose the Galaxy M17 if you prioritize a lighter, slimmer body, its listed IP54 rating, a slightly larger screen diagonal, or Samsung’s longer stated software-support plan.
- Decide by current price only after matching configurations. The published launch price and third-party snapshots are not a substitute for checking the specific version and offer available to you.
