Samsung’s Light performance profile slightly reduces processing power to prioritize battery life and cooling efficiency, but Samsung does not promise a set battery-life increase. It is intended to keep everyday tasks smooth, not to deliver a guaranteed number of extra hours. The title’s “enormous” gain is an individual observation, not a verified result readers should expect.
What the Light profile changes
Samsung describes two performance profiles in Device care. Standard is the default and balances processing speed, battery life, and cooling efficiency. Light prioritizes battery life and cooling efficiency over processing speed. Samsung says it reduces processing power slightly while retaining smooth performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, messaging, and watching videos.

That description explains the trade-off, but it is not a quantified battery test. Samsung’s guidance does not state how many hours or what percentage of additional battery life Light provides.

- Open Settings and go to Device care. Depending on the phone’s software, the menu may be named or arranged differently.
- Open the performance profile control and select Light. Choose Standard to return to the default profile.
- If you cannot find the control, use Settings search for Performance profile.
The menu and feature availability can vary by Galaxy model, carrier, and software version. Samsung’s Canada support page describes the feature for devices sold in Canada and cautions that settings may differ by provider, software version, and model. See Samsung’s Light performance profile guidance.

Light profile is not Power saving mode
Light performance profile and Power saving mode are separate controls in Samsung’s guidance; do not treat selecting Light as equivalent to turning on Power saving. Samsung’s battery guidance also notes that some settings must be changed after temporarily disabling Power saving mode. What an “enormous” gain can—and can’t—tell you
People have asked whether they should use Power Saving with its CPU limit or the Light performance profile, and community posts include personal battery observations. Those reports are anecdotal: they do not establish a controlled comparison or an expected result for other Galaxy owners. A surfaced S25 discussion describes its guide as combining personal knowledge and AI assistance, rather than reporting a controlled test; a Samsung Members discussion likewise does not document conditions sufficient to generalize its screen-on-time comparison.

If you personally notice a large difference, describe it as your result, not as a general Samsung Galaxy battery gain. A useful comparison would keep the phone model and software version, brightness, refresh-rate setting, network conditions, apps, screen-on time, and usage pattern as consistent as possible between runs. Without those details—and repeatable measurements—the size of the change cannot be attributed confidently to the profile alone.
Choosing between Standard and Light
