If your Samsung Galaxy asks for a Google Account after a factory reset, it is using Factory Reset Protection (FRP), called Google Device Protection in Samsung support materials. The supported way back in is to verify ownership with an account previously added and synced to the phone, use the prior screen lock if setup offers it, or recover the account through Google. There is no supported universal bypass; if you cannot verify ownership, contact Samsung support or an authorized service center with proof of purchase.
Why Google verification appears after a reset
Google’s device protection is designed to deter unauthorized use after a reset. A protected Galaxy may require a Google Account that was previously added and synced to the device before setup can continue. Google warns that without the required ownership information, the device cannot be used after a factory reset: Google’s Android device protection guidance.

Try the supported verification options
Use a previously synced Google Account
At the verification screen, sign in with a Google Account that was previously added and synced to this Galaxy. A different account, even one you own, may not satisfy the device’s ownership check. Enter the account details carefully rather than repeatedly trying guesses.

Use the prior screen lock if offered
Some Galaxy setup flows may offer the PIN, pattern, or password that was configured on the phone before it was reset. Samsung says that on Android 9 and later this option may be available as an ownership check; it is not present on every model or software build. Follow the on-screen choices if offered. Recover the Google Account if you cannot sign in
If you have forgotten the email address or password, use Google’s official Account recovery page. Google’s Android Help directs users who cannot sign in to get sign-in help and cautions that it does not work with services claiming to provide account or password support: Google’s device-protection guidance. Avoid third-party recovery services and tools that promise to bypass verification; they are not an officially supported route and may put your account or data at risk.

If you recently changed your Google password
A newly changed password may not work immediately for device verification. Samsung’s US and Canadian guidance describes a possible 24-hour wait before using the new password to unlock the device. This is support guidance, not a guaranteed timer for every account or Galaxy; check Samsung’s current instructions for your device and region before retrying: Samsung US guidance and Samsung Canada guidance.

If you are the owner and cannot complete verification with the account or screen lock, contact Samsung support or an authorized service center. Samsung advises service-center assistance when verification cannot be completed. Its Canadian guidance says to bring valid proof of purchase; requirements and service availability can vary by location, so confirm what documentation your local center needs before visiting: Samsung Canada’s FRP guidance and Samsung US device-protection guidance.

Why another reset usually will not help
A factory reset erases personal data, and the reset method can affect which verification screen appears. A reset through recovery mode may still lead to an FRP check during setup; resetting again does not supply the ownership credentials the phone is asking for. Samsung warns that a factory reset deletes personal data: Samsung factory-reset guidance. Avoid further resets unless you understand the data loss and have a legitimate way to complete verification.

Ask the previous owner to complete the legitimate account-removal or setup steps before you buy the phone. A reset alone does not establish that a buyer owns the account previously synced to the device. If the seller cannot help and you cannot verify the phone’s ownership through official means, do not rely on a bypass promise as proof that the device can be used.
