Samsung Galaxy phones can do more than take a standard photo: Single take can capture several kinds of images and clips in one session. It is handy when a child, pet or other subject may not stay still long enough for repeated attempts. The exact modes and menu paths depend on your Galaxy model and software, but these steps show where to look—and when Expert RAW or Object Eraser may suit the job better.
What Single take does—and when it helps
Single take records a short capture session and produces a selection of still photos and video clips, so you can choose a result afterward instead of committing to one shot in the moment. Samsung Support describes it as capturing “a variety of still shots and video clips with preapplied filters and effects.” It can be useful for a moving family member or pet, though it does not guarantee a particular shot or outcome.

Samsung’s US guide lists possible results including highlight videos, slow-motion and Boomerang clips, filtered pictures, collages and cropped shots. Available outputs and editing options vary by model.
Find and use Single take
- Open Camera. On models with the older layout, tap More and choose Single take.
- Tap the Options control and select the kinds of results you want, if that control is available on your device.
- Frame the subject, tap Capture, and let the phone record the moment.
- Tap the Gallery thumbnail to review the session. Open the Single take result and swipe through its captures; save or share individual results you want to keep.
These directions are not universal. Samsung India says that with One UI 8.5, Night, Single take and Dual rec are integrated into Photo or Video; Camera Assistant can make them separate modes. If Single take is not under More, check your camera’s Photo or Video options and the settings available for your software version. Samsung’s guide also says zoom is not supported during Single take. Samsung’s One UI 8.5 and mode instructions explain the newer layout.

Samsung’s US guide names S24, S23, S22 and S21 families, Note20, and Z Flip and Z Fold families, but features and editing tools differ among devices. It notes, for example, that Story Video Editor is unavailable on S21, S22 and Note20 in the context described. Check your model’s camera menus rather than assuming every Galaxy phone has the same options. Samsung’s Single take guide has the US steps and model caveats.
Choose a feature for the job
| Feature | Best suited to | Where it lives | What to expect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single take | Capturing a moment when the subject may move or the best format is not obvious yet | Camera; exact location varies | Several stills and clips from one session; outputs vary by model |
| Expert RAW | Manual control and more latitude for later editing | Expert RAW app, or Camera > More on the Galaxy Z Fold6 guide | JPEG plus 16-bit linear DNG RAW files; compatible models and options vary |
| Object Eraser | Removing an unwanted distraction from a finished photo | Gallery editing | Fills the selected area; availability depends on the model |
These tools address different tasks, not a general ranking of which Galaxy camera makes the best photos. Single take helps gather options while capturing; Expert RAW gives more control over capture and editing; Object Eraser changes an existing image afterward.

Use Expert RAW for control and editing latitude
Expert RAW is for someone willing to make more decisions during capture and editing. Samsung says the app saves both a JPEG and a 16-bit linear DNG RAW file. The RAW file retains uncompressed image data from the camera sensor, giving more detail to work with in compatible editing software than a compressed JPEG. The app provides controls for ISO, shutter speed, white balance, exposure and focus.

Samsung Canada’s guide lists Galaxy S20 or later for Expert RAW, but that does not mean every device supports every special option. The guide describes astrophotography and multiple exposure for the S23 series and the S22 series with T OS, and says these special photo options require 12MP resolution. It also warns that shooting intervals may lengthen after more than ten consecutive shots because of high-resolution processing. Verify the app and options for your exact model and software. Samsung Canada’s Expert RAW guide includes its compatibility notes and controls.

For the Galaxy Z Fold6, Samsung’s US instructions say to open Camera > More > Expert RAW and install the app if prompted. That model-specific path should not be treated as the menu path for every Galaxy phone. The guide discusses long exposure and Astrophoto for the Z Fold6. Samsung’s Z Fold6 camera guide covers that device’s steps.
Use Object Eraser after taking the photo
Object Eraser is a Gallery editing feature, not a camera mode. Samsung’s US instructions for the Galaxy A17 5G, A27 5G, A37 5G and A57 5G page specifically list availability for the A37 5G and A57 5G in that device set. On a supported model, the steps are:

Try simple fixes before changing camera settings
If photos look blurry or poor, start with the lens and the scene. Samsung recommends cleaning fingerprints, dust or smudges from the lens, and changing the angle or avoiding strong light. For close-range blur, Focus enhancer may automatically switch to the ultra-wide camera to help; whether the control appears depends on the device and camera conditions.

Camera Assistant offers advanced controls that can affect shutter speed, ISO, blur, noise and preview brightness. It is available only in countries that support Good Lock, and those settings are not a universal fix for every poor photo. Samsung also notes that internal condensation can temporarily cause haze and recommends letting it clear naturally. Samsung’s photo and video quality troubleshooting guide describes these checks and controls.
