To uninstall an app on a Samsung Galaxy, open the Apps screen, touch and hold the app, tap Uninstall, then confirm. If Uninstall is not available, the app may offer Disable instead; if you only want to remove its icons from view, hide it. The right option depends on what the app allows and whether you want it removed, stopped, or simply out of sight.
Choose what you want to happen to the app
Uninstalling, disabling, and hiding are different actions. Samsung says some pre-installed apps can be removed, while some can only be disabled or hidden; essential apps needed for basic device functions may offer neither option. Samsung’s guidance on pre-installed apps lists the available choices, which can vary by app and device.

How to uninstall an app on a Samsung Galaxy
- Open the Apps screen.
- Touch and hold the app you want to remove.
- Tap Uninstall, then confirm by tapping Uninstall again if prompted.
- Check the Apps screen to make sure the app is no longer listed.
Samsung says uninstalling removes the app from the Galaxy and frees storage. The exact menu and available action depend on the app: if Uninstall does not appear, use Disable if offered or hide the app instead. Samsung Canada explains the difference between uninstalling and disabling.

Disable a pre-installed app that cannot be uninstalled
- Open Settings > Apps.
- Select the app.
- Tap Disable and confirm.
Disabling stops the app’s functions when the option is supported and removes it from the Home and Apps screens, but leaves it installed on the device. Not every pre-installed app can be disabled; some essential apps cannot be removed or disabled.

Hide an app without removing it
- Open the Apps screen and tap the More menu.
- Go to Settings > Hide apps on Home and Apps screens.
- Select the app, then tap Done.
Hiding changes whether the app appears on your screens; Samsung’s instructions do not describe it as uninstalling or disabling the app. To show it again, return to the same setting and remove it from the hidden list.
Restore or reinstall an app
Enable an app you disabled
Open Settings > Apps, select the disabled app, and tap Enable. Check the Apps screen to confirm it is available again.

Reinstall an app you uninstalled
Samsung says an uninstalled app may be reinstalled through the Play Store or Galaxy Store. Depending on the app, you may need to sign in again or set your preferences up again.
Why the options may look different
Samsung notes that menu names, paths, and layouts can vary by Galaxy model, software version, and app version. If the steps above do not match your screen, look for the equivalent option in the app’s menu or under Settings > Apps; use the action actually offered for that app rather than assuming every Galaxy app can be deleted. Samsung’s support guide gives the current general paths and explains that availability differs by app.
