Which phone has the better camera zoom?
The S25 FE has the more clearly specified long-range camera hardware: Samsung lists a telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, along with 2x optical-quality zoom and digital zoom up to 30x. The A56’s listed rear cameras include a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP camera and a 5 MP camera; Samsung specifies digital zoom up to 10x, not optical telephoto zoom. On paper, the S25 FE is the more flexible choice if photographing distant subjects matters.
These specifications do not establish which phone takes better photos overall. No controlled, head-to-head photo analysis is available here, so image quality in different lighting and camera modes cannot be ranked from megapixels or zoom figures alone.

Display, charging and durability differences
Similar screen size and resolution
Both phones list a 6.7-inch FHD+ display with a maximum 120 Hz refresh rate. Samsung calls the A56 panel Super AMOLED and the S25 FE panel Dynamic AMOLED 2X, but those product labels alone do not establish how large a visible quality difference you will notice.
Wired and wireless charging
Both support 45 W wired charging. Samsung says the compatible 45 W charger and cable for the A56 are sold separately; the S25 FE US purchase page says a charger is not included. Check the package for your region before buying accessories. Samsung states that the S25 FE is compatible with wireless charging; wireless charging is not listed in the cited A56 specifications.
Water and dust resistance
The A56 is rated IP67 and the S25 FE IP68. For the S25 FE, Samsung’s cited footnote describes lab testing in fresh water up to 1.5 m deep for up to 30 minutes. A rating describes defined test conditions; it is not a guarantee that a phone will be unharmed by every water exposure.

How long will each phone receive software updates?
Samsung states that the A56 receives up to six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. For the S25 FE, Samsung states seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from its global launch. That is one additional generation and year in the stated commitment for the FE; the support time remaining when you buy depends on the phone’s launch date and purchase date.
Samsung’s S25 FE announcement says it “will support seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates from global launch date.”
Which should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy A56 5G if
- You want the lower US reference price, especially at the same storage capacity.
- You do not need the S25 FE’s listed 3x optical zoom or wireless charging.
- You are comfortable with the A56’s stated six-generation, six-year software-support commitment.
Choose the Galaxy S25 FE if
- You value the listed 3x optical-zoom camera, wireless charging or the IP68 rating.
- You want Samsung’s longer stated software-support commitment.
- The extra cost fits your budget and the current local price is competitive.
Samsung’s specifications do not establish a real-world performance or battery-life winner between the phones. The A56 lists a larger typical battery capacity, but capacity alone does not show how long either phone lasts in use. Confirm the local model number, carrier bands, price, stock and included accessories before purchasing.
