What does the S24 FE offer for the extra cost?
A dedicated 3x telephoto camera
The S24 FE has an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and optical image stabilization (OIS). The A56 lists a 5MP macro camera as its third rear camera and does not list a telephoto lens. That gives the S24 FE a clear hardware advantage for optical zoom; megapixel counts by themselves do not establish which phone takes better photos overall.
A higher IP rating and longer stated support
Samsung lists the S24 FE at IP68 and the A56 at IP67. These ratings describe tested resistance classifications, not a promise that either phone is immune to water damage. Samsung states seven OS generations and seven years of security updates for the S24 FE from global launch, compared with up to six OS generations and six years of security updates for the A56. Update rollout timing can still vary by region and carrier.

A different display and named processor
Both phones are listed with a 6.7-inch, FHD+ screen and a 120Hz maximum refresh rate. Samsung identifies the S24 FE panel as Dynamic AMOLED 2X with adaptive 60/120Hz refresh, while the A56 uses Super AMOLED. Samsung’s cited S24 FE specifications name an Exynos 2400e 4nm processor. The extracted A56 UK specification table does not unambiguously name its chipset, although Samsung’s 2025 report identifies Exynos 1580. Without comparable benchmark testing, these specifications do not establish a measured performance difference.

Lighter, thinner body and larger stated battery capacity

Its typical battery capacity is listed as 5,000mAh, compared with 4,700mAh for the S24 FE. Capacity is not a runtime test, so these figures do not show which phone lasts longer under real use.

Charging claims for the A56 are not consistent across the gathered Samsung materials: Samsung Ireland’s FAQ says 45W, while an official interim report excerpt says 25W. The available information does not resolve whether the discrepancy reflects market or SKU differences, a reporting error, or a change in wording. Check the current specification for the exact regional model rather than assuming one wattage applies everywhere.
For the US S24 FE, Samsung says wired charging is up to 25W and that the 25W adapter is sold separately; the stated setup uses a 3A USB-C cable. The available sources do not establish a complete, same-market comparison of both phones’ box contents. - Confirm the local price and storage tier rather than applying US MSRP to another country.
- Check the exact model’s supported network bands, warranty, and charging specification.
- Verify what is included in the retail box for that market.
- Treat software availability as market- and carrier-dependent. Samsung’s model-specific logs show Android 16 updates for some S24 FE variants in September 2026, not proof of a simultaneous rollout everywhere. Samsung S24 FE model-specific software update log.
