There is no universal winner: compare current prices for the same storage and market first. Samsung announced U.S. starting prices of $499.99 for the Galaxy A56 5G in 2025 and $449.99 for the Galaxy A37 5G in 2026—a historical $50 difference between launch prices, not a verified current price gap. The A56 is the more appealing choice if it costs less or close to the A37 and you value its higher-resolution ultrawide camera; the A37 offers an IP68 rating and launched with newer Android and One UI versions.

What is different in everyday use?

Camera: A56 has the higher-resolution ultrawide

Both phones have a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 5MP macro camera and a 12MP selfie camera in Samsung’s published comparison specifications. The A56’s ultrawide is 12MP, compared with 8MP on the A37. That is a spec-sheet advantage for the A56, but megapixel count alone does not prove better-looking photos; the available specifications do not establish an overall image-quality winner.

Durability: A37 has the higher IP rating

The A37 is rated IP68 and the A56 IP67. IP ratings describe resistance under specified test conditions; neither rating makes a phone waterproof or guarantees protection in every situation. The A37 has the higher published ingress rating, but users should still avoid treating either phone as safe for unrestricted water exposure.

Software: A37 started with a newer generation

Samsung lists the A56 as launching with Android 15 and One UI 7, and the A37 with Android 16 and One UI 8.5 in its U.S. specifications. Samsung’s launch materials promise up to six Android/One UI generation upgrades and six years of security updates for both device generations. “Up to” is the stated promise; those launch figures alone do not determine how much support time remains for a particular device today.

Display, battery and performance

The two phones share the same broad display specification: a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with refresh rates up to 120Hz. Samsung lists a typical 5,000mAh battery for each. The published information here does not provide an aligned brightness or battery-life test, so it does not support declaring one screen or battery better in actual use.

(No U.S. manufacturer warranty; Seller Return policy applies.)

Samsung specifies an Exynos 1580 chipset for the A56. Its A37 information describes an octa-core processor, but does not establish a directly comparable chipset name and benchmark result for both models. There is not enough comparable evidence here to call a performance winner.

Price difference: the $50 figure is historical, not a current deal

Samsung announced a U.S. starting price of $499.99 for the A56 in 2025 and $449.99 for the A37 in 2026. The arithmetic difference is $50, but the prices are from different launch periods and do not establish what either phone costs now or a like-for-like current discount.

Samsung Electronics America’s March 2026 U.S. MSRP sheet lists the unlocked A56 at $499.99 for 128GB and $549.99 for 256GB, and marks those entries EOL. The available pricing does not establish a corresponding current A37 street price. Actual offers vary by country, retailer, storage, carrier, trade-in and promotion.

For a fair comparison, check the price for the same country, unlocked or carrier status, and a comparable RAM/storage tier. The U.S. announcement configurations differ: the A56 listing starts at 8GB RAM/128GB, while the A37 listing includes 6GB/128GB; comparing only their starting prices can therefore obscure a configuration difference.

Which phone should you buy?

  • Choose the A56 if its current local price is competitive and you specifically want the 12MP ultrawide. Its main-camera headline resolution and the shared display and battery class do not, by themselves, make it a proven all-round winner.
  • Choose the A37 if you prioritize the higher IP68 rating or want the newer software generation it launched with, and its price and configuration make sense where you live.
  • Reconsider either one if the seller’s listing does not clearly identify storage, RAM, carrier status or regional model. Samsung says these details and availability can vary by market.
