How to install the SIM
The manual describes placing the SIM and, optionally, a microSD card in the tray, with the gold contacts facing down. Use the card outline on the tray to orient each card, and do not force one that does not sit flat. A SIM ejector tool can help open the tray, but the manual does not endorse a particular tool.
- Open the SIM tray using the ejector opening.
- Place the nano-SIM in the tray so it follows the cutout and its gold contacts face down.
- If using a microSD card, position it in the designated tray area according to the tray outline.
- Reinsert the tray gently. If it does not slide in normally, remove it and check that the cards are seated correctly.
Will an old SIM card fit and work?
If your old SIM is already a nano-SIM, it may physically fit. If it is larger, it will not fit the A51’s nano-SIM position as-is. Physical fit alone does not establish that the phone will register on a network or that the carrier will activate it.

Samsung’s manual notes that a SIM may be preinstalled or that a previous SIM may work, and directs users to contact their carrier about using it. Ask the provider to confirm activation eligibility and network support for your exact A51 model and region; check whether the phone is carrier-locked as well. Do not assume so. Samsung’s Verizon specification for the US model SM-A515U lists “SIM 1 + MicroSD,” indicating one SIM position in that specification. That detail applies to SM-A515U, not necessarily to every A51 sold in other regions or by other carriers. Samsung Galaxy A51 Verizon specifications

Before buying a second SIM or replacement tray, check the exact model number in the phone’s settings or on its packaging, then consult its documentation and inspect the tray. A second SIM will not work simply because another A51 variant supports one.
