If your Samsung Galaxy A50 rejects another carrier’s SIM or asks for a network unlock, request the unlock from the carrier that sold or locked the phone. Samsung’s Galaxy A50 A505U User Manual calls this “UICC unlock” and directs customers to their service provider. An unlock removes a carrier restriction; it does not guarantee that the A50 will work fully—or at all—on every other network.
First, identify which kind of unlock you need
“Unlock” can describe several different things on a Galaxy A50. The steps below cover a carrier or SIM/network restriction, which prevents the phone from accepting another provider’s SIM.

- Carrier/SIM unlock: Removes the original provider’s restriction, subject to that provider’s eligibility rules. Samsung’s A50 A505U manual labels the setting “UICC unlock.”
- Screen lock: A PIN, pattern, password, or biometric used to access the phone. A carrier unlock will not restore forgotten screen access. Samsung describes the A50’s in-display fingerprint reader as a way to unlock the device in its 2019 U.S. Galaxy A50 business product sheet.
- SIM PIN or PUK: A security code protecting the SIM card, separate from a carrier restriction. If the prompt asks for a SIM PIN or PUK, contact the SIM provider for the correct code; repeated incorrect attempts can lock the SIM. See Samsung’s SIM-card lock guidance.
- Bootloader unlock or rooting: A software modification, not a carrier unlock. The exact model and region matter, and there is no universal A50 procedure established here.
How to request a carrier unlock for the Galaxy A50
- Check the prompt. Inserted another provider’s SIM and seeing “network unlock,” “SIM invalid,” or an incompatible-SIM message? That can indicate a carrier restriction. Optus describes an invalid-SIM message on a locked Galaxy A50 and directs customers to its device-unlock process. A message alone does not prove the phone is locked, so confirm with the original provider.
- Find the original carrier. Check the receipt, account records, seller information, and device records. Branding or a carrier name in settings may offer a clue, but does not establish eligibility. If you bought the phone used, ask the seller which carrier locked it and request proof that it was unlocked; verify its status with that carrier.
- Check that carrier’s current requirements. Eligibility varies by provider, country, and plan. In the U.S., T-Mobile’s published SIM unlock policy says the device must have been sold by T-Mobile, not be reported lost, stolen, or blocked, and the associated account must be in good standing. For postpaid devices, the policy lists at least 40 days active on the requesting line; a financed or leased device must be paid in full. These are T-Mobile requirements, not universal rules.
- Use the provider’s official unlock route. Submit its request or follow its device-status and unlock workflow. AT&T’s device unlock support explains how to check lock status and request an unlock; it says eligible Samsung, Apple, or Google devices on an AT&T Wireless plan may unlock automatically. T-Mobile also directs customers to check status and use its supported process.
- Complete the carrier’s instructions. Depending on the carrier, model variant, and lock state, the unlock may happen remotely or require an app, notification, restart, or a non-original SIM. Follow the instructions supplied for your device. There is no universal numeric code or guaranteed completion time that applies to every A50.
- Verify compatibility before switching. Ask the destination provider to check the exact A50 model or IMEI before buying a plan or SIM. An unlocked phone can still have limited service or no service on a network that does not support its model or bands. Verizon explains that an unlocked device may have limited functionality—or may not work—on another carrier because network technologies differ; see its device unlocking policy.
How to choose between staying and switching
| Option | What to verify | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Keep using the original carrier | Whether the A50 and your account remain active and in good standing with that provider. | No carrier unlock is needed if you keep using the original provider’s service. |
| Switch to another carrier | Original-carrier unlock eligibility, the exact A50 model’s compatibility, and whether the destination carrier accepts its IMEI. | Unlock approval alone does not guarantee coverage or full network functionality. You may also need a new SIM and plan. |
For U.S. examples, T-Mobile says it unlocks eligible devices free of charge, subject to its policy requirements. Do not assume another provider has the same terms; check the original carrier’s current policy before acting.
Common fixes that do not unlock the phone
Factory reset
A factory reset is not the carrier-unlock method described in Samsung’s manual or the carriers’ processes. If you need a reset for a separate reason, back up your data first: resetting erases personal data and can trigger account-protection requirements.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Forgotten screen PIN or password
A carrier unlock will not recover access to the phone’s screen. Use Samsung’s or the device maker’s current official account-recovery process. Reset options may erase local data and require the account previously synced to the phone.
SIM PIN or PUK prompt
Contact the SIM provider for the correct SIM PIN or PUK. Do not keep guessing: repeated wrong entries can lock the SIM. This does not remove a carrier restriction.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Paid unlock codes and tools
The carrier controls the official unlock decision. Check its free official process and policy before considering any paid third-party service; no unlock box, code generator, SIM-eject tool, or manual is required for the carrier’s authorization.
What “factory unlocked” means for a used A50
A phone originally sold unlocked is different from a carrier-branded handset that was later unlocked. Samsung’s 2019 U.S. product sheet says unlocked A50 models allow customers to choose a carrier, but that description does not confirm the status of a particular used phone. Have the original carrier or seller verify the handset’s unlock status, then confirm compatibility with the destination carrier.
