Motorola’s moto g max stands out for its larger 7,000mAh battery, slightly larger screen, and 30W charging. There is no reliable same-country, current price comparison here: Samsung’s documented $399.99 price was its U.S. launch price in 2024, while Motorola’s cited specifications are for India.

Display: AMOLED contrast or a slightly larger LCD?
The A35 has a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED screen with an FHD+ resolution and refresh rate up to 120Hz. Motorola lists the moto g max with a 6.72-inch Full HD+ LCD, also at 120Hz. The Motorola screen is 0.12 inches larger diagonally, while the Samsung uses AMOLED technology. That difference may matter if you prefer AMOLED’s display characteristics, but specifications alone do not establish which screen looks better in person.

Motorola lists up to 1,050 nits in high-brightness mode (HBM). The cited Samsung material does not provide a directly comparable brightness figure, so a numerical brightness winner cannot be drawn from these sources.

Battery and charging: Motorola has more capacity, not proven longer real-world life
Motorola lists a 7,000mAh battery and 30W TurboPower charging, and claims up to 63 hours of battery life. That runtime is a manufacturer estimate, not an independently verified head-to-head result. Actual endurance depends on settings, network conditions, apps, and use.
Samsung specifies a 5,000mAh typical battery, with a rated minimum capacity of 4,905mAh, and support for charging up to 25W. Samsung says its typical capacity is based on third-party laboratory testing under IEC 61960. The charger is sold separately. Battery capacity figures indicate size, not how long a phone will last between charges.

Durability: IP67 and IP64 are different ratings
Samsung rates the A35 IP67. Its explanation specifies laboratory submersion in up to 1 metre of freshwater for up to 30 minutes and cautions that beach or pool use is not advised. Motorola lists the moto g max as IP64 water resistant and also lists MIL-STD-810H. These labels are not interchangeable: neither should be read as a promise that the phone is waterproof or indestructible. Conditions and limitations matter.
Cameras: stabilization and a macro camera on Samsung’s spec sheet
Both phones list a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide. Samsung additionally specifies optical image stabilization (OIS) for its main camera and a 5MP macro camera. Motorola identifies its 50MP main sensor as Sony LYTIA 600. Those differences describe hardware, but megapixel counts and feature lists do not establish which phone takes better photos; there is no verified direct camera test in the cited material.

Motorola’s India support page lists Android 16, two OS upgrades, and three years of security maintenance releases for the moto g max. These are the policies and software details stated by the respective sources; update timing, availability, and support status can vary. Samsung’s UK page notes that policies may change. Check the current support information for the exact regional model before buying.

The cited Motorola specification lists a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor, 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement lists an octa-core processor and a 6GB RAM, 128GB storage configuration; its UK specification page also lists a 256GB option and microSD expansion up to 1TB. Because those Samsung configurations come from different regional sources, do not assume every market offers the same storage choices.

Motorola lists stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and no NFC for the moto g max, as well as sub-6GHz 5G bands. The Samsung source confirms 5G but is not a matched list of local bands and carrier certifications. Before purchasing either model, check the exact variant against your carrier’s supported bands and services; the “5G” label alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Price difference: no reliable current, like-for-like figure
Samsung Electronics America announced a U.S. starting price of $399.99 for the Galaxy A35 in 2024. That is a historical launch price, not a current quote. The available Motorola specification source is India-specific, and the title does not name a country or exact variant. A current price gap cannot be responsibly calculated from those mismatched contexts. Compare the exact models and storage configurations at retailers in the same country, using the same basis—such as unlocked price or equivalent carrier terms.
