SamMobile reported on October 6, 2026, that Samsung had ended software support for the Galaxy A23 5G. But Samsung’s current security-update scope page still lists the model for quarterly updates. Because Samsung says support and delivery can vary by market, carrier and model, check the status for your exact variant before treating the reported end date as universal.
Will the Galaxy A23 5G still get security updates?
The answer is unclear for every variant. SamMobile says the Galaxy A23 5G has reached the end of software support, while Samsung’s live Mobile Security scope list still includes “Galaxy A23 5G” among devices receiving quarterly security updates. Samsung says the list can change and that update availability and timing may differ by market, network provider and model. The scope page does not give an A23 5G end date.

For your phone, check its exact model number and your carrier or Samsung support channel for current availability. A model appearing on Samsung’s scope list indicates its update category, not that a particular patch has already reached every handset.

The report says the LTE Galaxy A23 stopped receiving updates in April 2026. That is a separate model from the A23 5G, so owners should verify their handset’s exact variant rather than assume the two models share the same status.
What does losing security updates mean?
Samsung says its firmware security updates include patches for Android operating-system issues released by Google and security issues specific to Samsung. If support has ended for your particular phone, it will not receive future Samsung-distributed patches after that point. The available sources do not identify an A23-specific active exploit or establish that an individual phone is compromised; they also do not quantify the immediate risk to an owner.

SamMobile reports longer update commitments for newer A-series models. What should you check before replacing the phone?
- Identify the variant: Check the model number in your phone’s settings or on its packaging. The LTE A23 and A23 5G are distinct models.
- Confirm local support: Check Samsung’s current scope list and ask Samsung or your carrier whether updates are available for your exact model and market.
- Compare support terms: For a replacement, compare the stated duration of major Android upgrades and security updates, as well as the device’s current update cadence. Confirm those terms for the model sold in your region.
