The Wharfedale Diamond 12.1i HCP is a 5.1 speaker package built around four Diamond 12.1i standmount speakers, a 12.1Ci centre speaker and an SW10 subwoofer. What Hi-Fi?’s review, published 6 October 2026, praised its clear dialogue, spacious and cohesive sound, and controlled bass. Allow for stands for the four standmount speakers, and check current regional availability and pricing before buying.
What comes in the Diamond 12.1i HCP?
According to What Hi-Fi?’s review of the i-generation package, the 5.1 set contains:
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
- Two pairs of Diamond 12.1i standmount speakers: four speakers for front left, front right, surround left and surround right.
- One Diamond 12.1Ci centre speaker.
- One SW10 subwoofer.
The fronts and surrounds are two-way bass-reflex speakers; the centre is a two-way closed-box design. The package is a 5.1 system, not a Dolby Atmos or other height-channel system. What Hi-Fi? notes Wharfedale’s 12.3Di height speakers as an expansion option, but they are not part of this package.
How does it sound?
In its review, What Hi-Fi? described clear, natural dialogue, a cohesive sound field, dynamic and spacious presentation, and deep, even bass. The test used a Denon AVC-A1H AV amplifier and an Oppo UDP-203 4K Blu-ray player. These are the reviewer’s listening impressions from that system, not a guarantee that every room or receiver will sound the same.

The review also noted slight fuzz on two sound effects in its Blade Runner 2049 test. The reviewer initially found the front speakers a little lean; moving them closer to the wall restored warmth. Placement can therefore matter: follow the speaker and room guidance, then adjust positioning by listening rather than assuming one location suits every room.
What should you budget for besides the package?
Speaker stands
The four 12.1i speakers are standmount designs. What Hi-Fi? specifically advises buyers to factor stands into the budget. Check stand height, stability and the speaker’s mounting requirements before purchase; the supplied review does not establish that stands are included.

An AV receiver
The package requires suitable amplification and an AV receiver with the connections and processing needed for a 5.1 system. Wharfedale recommends 20–100 W amplifier power for each 12.1i and lists 8-ohm-compatible nominal impedance, with a 4-ohm minimum. These are the bookshelf speaker’s specifications, not a complete receiver-matching guarantee. Check the receiver’s power ratings, speaker-impedance guidance and operating conditions for all connected channels before choosing it.
Room and placement space
Plan for four stands around the listening area, a location for the centre near the display, and a suitable position for the subwoofer. The review’s finding that moving the fronts nearer the wall changed their tonal balance is a reminder that placement is part of setup, not just an aesthetic choice.

How much does it cost, and where is it available?
Prices and availability are regional and can change. What Hi-Fi?’s 6 October 2026 review listed a UK test price of £999 for the package and £1126 if its components were bought separately. For Australia, it reported a AU$3300 component total: AU$700 for each pair of 12.1i speakers, AU$700 for the 12.1Ci and AU$1200 for the SW10. The review said the complete bundle was not being sold pre-assembled in Australia at that time and that the 12.1Ci was then unavailable in the US. Treat those as dated review observations, not current stock or price guarantees; verify the exact i-generation and all five speaker units with a local seller.

Wharfedale Australia’s page for the earlier Diamond 12.1 HCP describes the preceding non-i package, including the older 12.C centre. It is not authoritative for the 12.1i HCP configuration. The i-generation review identifies the centre as the 12.1Ci. When comparing listings, confirm that the centre and front/surround speakers carry the “i” generation designation and that the SW10 is included.

Who is this package for?
The Diamond 12.1i HCP is worth considering if you want a conventional 5.1 system with matching standmount speakers and a dedicated centre and subwoofer, and you have space and budget for stands and an AV receiver. It is less suitable if you need height speakers in the box, want floorstanding front speakers, or cannot confirm that the 12.1Ci is available in your market. The review’s positive sound assessment is useful evidence, but it does not substitute for checking room fit, receiver compatibility, current price and local stock.
