If older messages are missing from Samsung Email, increase the account’s Email sync period, then load or search the mailbox. If you still can’t find a message, check the email provider’s website and other folders: it may be stored on the server or archived rather than deleted.
Extend Samsung Email’s sync period
A short sync period can keep older messages from appearing in Samsung Email. Samsung’s documented fix is to choose a longer period for the affected account. Samsung’s instructions for missing old emails give the following path:

- Open the Samsung Email app and tap the Menu icon (three horizontal lines).
- Tap the Settings gear.
- Select the email account where messages are missing.
- Tap Email sync period.
- Choose a longer duration, then return to that account’s mailbox.
The available choices and labels can vary by account, app version, Galaxy model, or software version. Samsung gives short periods such as three days or one week as examples that may limit which messages appear.

Scroll to load more
In the mailbox, scroll to the bottom of the message list, then swipe upward to load older messages. Samsung’s US support page describes this as scrolling up from the bottom of the mailbox. Whether older mail loads can depend on the email provider; Samsung Germany notes that older messages are usually stored on the provider’s server and may be loaded by the app. Samsung Germany’s Galaxy email guidance explains this server-side distinction.

Search by subject or keyword
Tap the magnifying-glass icon on the message-list screen and enter a subject or a word you remember from the email. Searching can be quicker than browsing a long mailbox. Samsung recommends this approach alongside loading older messages.
Check the provider’s mailbox and other folders
If the message still isn’t visible, sign in to the provider’s webmail or open its own mail app. This helps establish whether the message is still in the account and whether Samsung Email is showing the relevant folder.

Also look beyond Inbox. Archived messages may be filed differently depending on the account type: Microsoft says accounts using Exchange, Microsoft 365, iCloud, Outlook.com, and Yahoo place archived messages in Archive, while Gmail and Google Workspace use All Mail. Microsoft’s archive guidance describes these folder differences.
Keep Gmail’s sync setting separate
If you’re using the Gmail app rather than Samsung Email, Google documents a separate setting called Days of mail to sync. Messages outside that sync range may not be available offline. This is Gmail-specific guidance; it is not the same setting as Samsung Email’s Email sync period. See Google’s Gmail settings instructions for Android. If older mail still doesn’t appear
- Confirm the message appears in the provider’s webmail or app. If it is absent there too, Samsung Email may not be the only issue.
- Check Archive, All Mail, and any other folders in the account instead of relying on Inbox alone.
- Review the account’s sync period and try a longer duration, then return to the mailbox and load older messages.
- If the setting or menu path is different or unavailable, check Samsung’s guidance for your device and software version. Samsung notes that interface paths and labels can vary by model and operating system.
Changing the sync period affects what Samsung Email brings into view; it does not, by itself, establish that an absent message was deleted or restore mail that the provider no longer has.
