What Dynamic Picture Mode changes
Dynamic is a selectable Picture Mode, not a catch-all term for the TV’s brightness settings. Samsung’s e-manual describes Dynamic as a mode that “Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.” The manual lists Picture Mode separately from expert controls such as Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Colour and Tint. Samsung’s e-manual documents those options, though features can vary by model and geographical area.

Which picture mode suits your room?
Samsung’s manual describes modes by intended use, not as a universal ranking. The right choice depends on room light, the picture appearance you prefer and what you are watching.
| Mode | Samsung’s description | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Dynamic | Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments. | Bright rooms, especially if other modes look too dim. |
| Standard | The default mode for general viewing. | A starting point for everyday use. |
| Movie | Suited to a dark room. | Dim-room viewing. |
| Eco | Described as an energy-saving screen mode. | When you want to use the TV’s energy-saving picture option. |
| FILMMAKER MODE | Follows specified UHD Alliance-certified picture quality and may look darker. | When you want that specified presentation and accept a potentially less bright image. |
These are Samsung’s descriptions in the cited manual, not a promise that every model offers every mode or that one setting is best for every viewer. Mode availability and labels can differ by model and geographical area.

How to select Dynamic on a Samsung TV
- Open the picture settings. On the interface documented in Samsung’s manual, go to Settings > All Settings > Picture > Picture Mode.
- Choose Dynamic. If it is not listed, your model or regional software may not offer it under that name.
- Evaluate it in your room. Compare the image with Standard or another available mode using the lighting and content you normally watch.
The path above applies to the interface in the cited manual; menu paths differ across Samsung TV generations.
Picture Mode versus Brightness and other controls
Selecting Dynamic is not the same as changing an individual expert setting. Samsung lists Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Colour and Tint separately. Its manual describes Brightness as adjusting overall picture brightness, Contrast as the difference between darker and brighter areas, and Sharpness as adjusting object outlines. Those controls can be adjusted independently where the model provides them; the manual does not establish universal numeric settings for different TVs, rooms, inputs or content.

Dynamic is not an energy-saving feature
Do not confuse Dynamic Picture Mode with Samsung’s AI Energy Mode. Samsung describes AI Energy Mode as using sensors and processing to adjust settings based on the environment and content. In a 2023 UK Newsroom article, Samsung said the built-in light sensor automatically adjusts screen brightness as surrounding light changes, referring to AI Energy Mode’s Environment Adaptive Brightness—not Dynamic Picture Mode. Samsung’s announcement also reported a 12% reduction in energy consumption in internal testing on a Neo QLED 8K 65QN800C at 100 lux. Samsung said results vary with ambient brightness and content, and some functions may not operate above specified illuminance conditions; that model-specific test is not a saving measured from selecting Dynamic mode.
