Samsung DeX can use Cmd + left or right arrow to snap windows toward the edges of an external display, according to SamMobile’s report updated October 6, 2026. The option is off by default and is reported to require One UI 8.5 or later. It is a specific window-management shortcut—not support for every Mac shortcut—and turning it on means Cmd + left arrow no longer works as DeX’s Back shortcut.
What Cmd + arrow does in Samsung DeX
The reported setting lets a user press Cmd with an arrow key to move a DeX window toward the corresponding edge of the connected display. It addresses window placement in DeX; it does not mean that every macOS keyboard shortcut works on a Samsung phone or tablet.

SamMobile reports that Windows + Shift + arrow remains an option for keyboards using the Windows key. Samsung’s general shortcut guidance also notes that modifier behavior varies: “Depending on the keyboard, you may need to press CMD or the search key instead of the Windows key.” That guidance supports the modifier-key context, but does not establish identical behavior for every keyboard, layout, device, or app. Samsung’s keyboard and mouse guidance covers DeX shortcuts and setup.
How to turn on Cmd + arrow window movement
- Connect to Samsung DeX on a compatible external display and connect a physical keyboard.
- On the Galaxy device, open Settings > Connected devices > Samsung DeX.
- Turn on Cmd + arrows to move windows.
- Use Cmd with an arrow key to move a DeX window toward the display edge.
The menu label and option are reported by SamMobile; Samsung’s general support page explains DeX keyboard use but does not independently confirm this specific toggle. If the option is missing, check whether the device has received One UI 8.5 or later and account for device and regional rollout differences.

Choose the shortcut that suits your keyboard

These combinations and the Cmd/Back conflict are reported by SamMobile. If you rely on Cmd + left arrow to go Back, leave the new option off; if you prefer using Cmd to arrange windows, enable it and use another available navigation method.
Keyboard, display, and app compatibility
The Cmd + arrow toggle is reported for devices running One UI 8.5 or later, but seeing it may depend on the Galaxy model and regional software rollout. Samsung’s broader DeX instructions describe physical keyboard use across supported setups; they do not establish that every Apple keyboard or keyboard layout has been tested with this new option.

DeX requires a compatible Galaxy device and a display connection for an external-display workflow. Samsung documents wireless DeX with compatible Samsung TVs and Miracast-capable smart TVs, and wired connections through USB-C or an adapter and HDMI when wireless display support is unavailable. The supported device list depends on the exact model; check Samsung’s current DeX support information. Samsung’s Galaxy S26 DeX setup guide describes pairing a Bluetooth keyboard in the phone’s Bluetooth settings. These are setup options, not requirements unique to the Cmd shortcut.
