Arrow McLaren’s offseason is a working season: the team develops drivers and cars, practices pit stops, improves its Indianapolis operations and builds commercial relationships. After the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, CEO Zak Brown said the team was focused on 2026 and wanted to contend for the Indianapolis 500 and series championship while putting all three cars in the top 10.
What does Arrow McLaren want to improve after the 2025 season?
In his September 2025 post-season letter, Brown said Arrow McLaren had recorded two race wins, three pole positions and 12 podiums that season. He reported that Pato O’Ward finished second in the championship and Christian Lundgaard fifth. These are figures and results as Brown presented them in the team’s letter.

Brown identified consistency as a key challenge. He said the team would use the offseason to develop Nolan Siegel and help the No. 6 crew deliver complete race weekends. The broader target was stronger results across all three cars, alongside bids for the Indy 500 and series title. Brown’s post-season letter describes those goals as plans for 2026, not as results already achieved.
How does the new Indianapolis facility change offseason work?
The McLaren Racing Center, officially opened at the February 4, 2026 season launch, gives the team a year-round base for developing, building and adjusting its cars. McLaren describes the facility as 86,000 square feet, with dedicated spaces for machine work, gearboxes, fabrication, assembly, subassembly and paint. These functions put different stages of race-car preparation under one roof. McLaren’s February 2026 facility tour details the shop and its working areas.

INDYCAR reported that the project represented a $30 million investment in Indianapolis and would nearly triple the space Arrow McLaren operated in. The design was intended to improve workflow and day-to-day operations, rather than simply provide a larger building. INDYCAR’s September 2025 update covers the investment and facility plans.
More room for a larger team
INDYCAR reported in December 2025 that Arrow McLaren had grown from roughly 30 employees to more than 120 since its full-time return in 2020. The team had maintained three full-time entries and an additional Indy 500-only car after 2023, while the old building’s space limited its operations. More capacity matters because offseason work involves many connected jobs—from design and fabrication to assembling and preparing cars—not just time on track. INDYCAR’s report on the renovation describes the organization’s growth and the constraints of its previous space.

How does Arrow McLaren prepare its crew and people?
A dedicated pit-stop area includes a complete replica pit box, allowing crews to rehearse together and hone their skills away from the pressure of a live race. That practice supports the same consistency Brown said the team wants to improve on race weekends.

Why is commercial work part of the offseason?
A race team also needs to develop relationships with partners and plan how those relationships connect with racing and fans. The Indianapolis facility includes workspaces for commercial and corporate departments alongside engineering operations, according to McLaren’s facility tour.
On September 28, 2026, Edward Jones and McLaren Racing announced a multiyear partnership. What IndyCar teams do in the offseason
Arrow McLaren’s plans show why the offseason is more than a pause between races. The team can use the months without competition to develop drivers, refine cars, rehearse crew work, support fitness and recovery, expand operating capacity and plan partner activity. The Racing Center ties many of those tasks together in a facility designed for year-round work, while Brown’s goals connect that preparation to the team’s 2026 performance ambitions.
