Samsung’s guidance is for stainless finishes generally, not a compatibility guarantee for every black stainless model or coating.
How do you clean a Samsung black stainless steel refrigerator?
- Check the model manual. Confirm which parts are black stainless steel and which are glass, plastic, a display, or another material. Follow the instructions for your exact model before using a specialty cleaner.
- Wipe routine dust and fingerprints. Use a clean, soft microfiber cloth. If a dry cloth is not enough, lightly dampen it; do not spray water or cleaner directly onto the refrigerator.
- Use a stainless-steel product only if the manual allows it. Samsung Canada recommends a dedicated stainless-steel cleaner for stainless exteriors and wiping along the grain. Samsung Gulf recommends stainless-steel cleaner or polish, applied to a rag rather than sprayed on the appliance. These are regional recommendations for stainless finishes, not universal approval for every black stainless coating. Samsung Canada’s refrigerator-cleaning guidance was updated May 23, 2026 and is written with Canadian customers in mind; Samsung Gulf’s cleaning guidance was updated April 18, 2025.
- Dry the finish. Wipe with a clean, soft cloth after cleaning to reduce water marks and streaks.
What cleaner is safe for black stainless steel?
There is no cleaner established as safe for every Samsung black stainless refrigerator. Check the manual for your model before applying any product. Samsung’s general stainless-steel guidance recommends a dedicated stainless-steel cleaner or polish, but the finish and care instructions can vary by model and market.

For spills or grime on a refrigerator surface, Samsung Canada advises using a clean microfiber cloth and, if needed, a mild, non-abrasive detergent that is safe for refrigerators, followed by thorough drying. Use this advice only where it matches the surface and instructions for your model. Avoid abrasive pads or brushes and harsh chemicals; Samsung Hong Kong gives that warning for its products in that market.

For everyday fingerprints, gently wipe with a clean, soft microfiber cloth, then dry the surface. If fingerprints persist, consult the manual before trying stainless-steel cleaner or polish. Apply any permitted product to the cloth, not directly to the door, and wipe along the grain where applicable. Samsung Gulf warns that glass cleaner can leave streaks on stainless steel, so do not assume it is suitable for the finish.

Samsung’s US specification for refrigerator model RF20A5101SG describes its fingerprint-resistant black stainless finish as one that “withstands everyday smudges, so you spend less time cleaning.” That is product copy for this model, not a quantified or independent cleaning-performance result, and it does not establish the finish or care requirements of other models. Samsung’s RF20A5101 specification is a 2021 document that notes specifications and color availability can change.
What if sticker adhesive is stuck to the refrigerator?
Do not scrape the finish. Samsung Singapore’s sticker-residue guidance, last updated July 14, 2022, suggests soapy water or oil and mentions WD-40 or rubbing alcohol for stainless steel. That advice is limited to residue removal in that regional article; it is not a routine-cleaning recommendation or approval for every black stainless coating. Check your model manual first, and test a permitted specialty approach on a hidden area before using it on a visible surface.
