Your organization may instead require a My Domain address or company single sign-on (SSO), so the right login route depends on your account and organization.
Choose the right Salesforce login address
Start with the URL your organization gave you. Standard Salesforce addresses are useful when your organization permits direct Salesforce sign-in, but they are not universal: a company may require a custom domain or SSO.

Salesforce documents the standard production and sandbox URLs and organization-specific login options in its login help. A lightning.force.com address may point to a Salesforce page, but it is not a substitute for the My Domain login host. If you are unsure which environment or URL applies, ask your administrator rather than repeatedly trying credentials on different hosts.
Log in to Salesforce on a computer
- Open your employer-provided Salesforce login page. If you have no custom or SSO address, use https://login.salesforce.com for production or https://test.salesforce.com for a sandbox.
- Enter the identity information requested on the sign-in screen. Salesforce’s general sign-in experience has changed: username-first sign-in began in June 2026, and email-address login became the default starting in August 2026 for standard login URLs and mobile apps. Your organization’s SSO or custom sign-in may look different; see Salesforce’s login-flow release guidance.
- Enter your password or follow the email or verification prompt shown for your account.
- Complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) if prompted, using a method enabled for your organization.
When troubleshooting repeated sign-in prompts, begin at the standard login page or your My Domain rather than opening a saved record link. Salesforce notes that direct record URLs can trigger additional MFA prompts.

Use the Salesforce app on iPhone or Android
Install the Salesforce app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The precise labels and server controls differ by platform and can change with app updates; Salesforce’s current mobile login guide has platform-specific steps.
Sign in with an email address
- Open the app and select Production – Log in with email when that option matches your account.
- Enter the email address associated with Salesforce and follow the password or verification-code prompt.
- Complete any SSO or MFA step your organization requires.
Sign in with a username, sandbox, or custom connection
Choose the server or connection that matches your account: Production for login.salesforce.com, Sandbox for test.salesforce.com, or the custom connection configured for your organization’s My Domain or SSO. On some app screens you may need to add or select a custom connection; follow the iOS or Android instructions in Salesforce’s mobile guide. Do not use a page address ending in lightning.force.com as the login host. If the app does not show the expected server or your organization uses a special route, ask your administrator for the exact connection details.

Reset a password or recover access
If you forgot your password, open the Salesforce login page in a browser and choose Forgot password? Follow the prompts to verify your identity and reset it. Salesforce password reset is not available inside the mobile app. You may need access to the email address on the account; if you cannot identify your username or complete the recovery prompt, contact your Salesforce administrator. If Salesforce says the account is locked, stop retrying and contact your administrator or follow your organization’s lockout process. Repeated attempts are not a recovery method and may prolong the problem.

Complete MFA or resolve a verification problem
Salesforce supports several MFA approaches, but your administrator decides which are available. Depending on the organization’s setup, you may be asked to use Salesforce Authenticator, a third-party authenticator app, a built-in passkey or authenticator such as Face ID or Windows Hello, a WebAuthn/U2F security key, or a one-time password. Salesforce classifies built-in authenticators and security keys as phishing-resistant methods; Salesforce Authenticator and third-party authenticator apps are listed as standard-tier methods in its MFA method comparison.
- If you changed or lost your phone, use another MFA method only if your organization enabled one.
- If the prompt is unavailable, your device registration needs to be reset, or your authenticator cannot be used, ask your Salesforce administrator or IT team for account-specific recovery.
- If your company uses SSO, the identity provider and network policies may also affect sign-in; your organization’s IT team is the right contact for those issues.
Salesforce’s MFA documentation states that it started enforcing MFA requirements in June 2026. The exact methods and login policy that apply to you depend on your organization; consult its administrator or Salesforce’s current MFA guidance.

Check common causes when login fails
- Wrong environment: Confirm whether you are signing into production or a sandbox, then use the matching server or connection.
- Wrong host: Switch to the exact My Domain or SSO route your organization provided instead of guessing at a URL.
- Credentials or recovery: Check that you are using the username or email requested by the current screen. Use browser-based password recovery if needed.
- MFA unavailable: Try only another method configured for your account; ask the administrator if none is available.
- Mobile access: Confirm that your organization permits app access and that the correct connection is selected.
- SSO or network policy: Ask IT to check organization-specific identity-provider and network requirements.
Salesforce’s login troubleshooting guidance covers additional account and sign-in issues. For failures involving company-specific access, your administrator can verify the correct URL, account status, and enabled login methods.

Salesforce says you can be logged into its mobile app on five devices concurrently. When you sign in on a sixth, the oldest session is automatically logged out, according to its mobile app login guide.
