One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchNo published, matched test establishes a universal speed winner between Ryujinx and Yuzu on budget hardware. Which one runs better on a given PC depends on the exact game and version, the emulator build or fork, the graphics backend and GPU driver, the settings you choose, and whether shaders have already been compiled and cached. The published setup guides tell you what each project requires to run. They do not tell you how fast either one will be on your machine.
This guide explains what the published figures do and do not establish, why integrated graphics are the hardest case, and how to run a comparison that other readers can trust.

What the published requirements actually say
Both projects publish setup guidance, and it is the most concrete information available. Read it as compatibility and sizing guidance, not as benchmark results.
| Item | Ryujinx (Ryubing Docs setup guide) | Yuzu (mirror quickstart) |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum system RAM | At least 8 GB | 12 GB minimum when using integrated graphics |
| Recommended system RAM | 16 GB DDR4 (recommended baseline) | 16 GB recommended for integrated graphics; 32 GB listed as optimal |
| Graphics API support | OpenGL 4.5 or Vulkan 1.2 or higher | OpenGL 4.6 or Vulkan 1.1 |
| Recommended CPU and GPU | Ryzen 5 3600 with NVIDIA GTX 1060 6 GB, for the guide’s native-resolution, target-framerate baseline | Not stated in the quickstart |
| Integrated graphics guidance | Not stated in the setup guide | Integrated graphics use system RAM as video memory; the quickstart warns that integrated graphics produce very low performance |
| Guarantee of performance | Not stated; the baseline is a recommendation | The quickstart says its recommendations do not guarantee perfect performance in all games |
Two things follow from the table. First, the Ryujinx baseline describes a machine the guide considers adequate for its target, not a floor below which the emulator will fail or a ceiling above which it will be fast. Second, the Yuzu RAM figures are specifically tied to integrated graphics, so a reader with a discrete GPU should not apply them unchanged.

Why integrated graphics are the hard case
Integrated graphics have no dedicated video memory. The Yuzu quickstart states that they use system RAM as video memory, which is why its guidance climbs from 12 GB to 16 GB and then 32 GB for this configuration. Every gigabyte the emulator, the operating system, and the browser take is a gigabyte the GPU cannot use for textures and render targets.
This matters most on budget machines because the shared memory is usually the same slow, low-capacity pool. Practical consequences include:
- Upgrading from 8 GB to 16 GB, or from a single memory stick to a dual-channel pair, can change results more than switching emulators. Whether it does depends on the machine, so treat this as a hypothesis to test, not a documented gain.
- Running a memory-heavy game alongside other applications leaves less headroom than the same game on a clean boot.
- On laptops and handhelds, sustained power and thermal limits can lower clocks after several minutes, which an opening-scene test will not show.
The quickstart’s own warning about very low performance on integrated graphics is the most honest starting point for these machines. Expect that some titles will be unplayable at any setting, and that the difference between the two emulators may be smaller than the difference between games.
What the graphics API does and does not tell you
Each project lists the graphics APIs it supports. Ryujinx’s documentation describes OpenGL, Vulkan, and Metal through MoltenVK. The Yuzu quickstart lists OpenGL 4.6 and Vulkan 1.1 support. These lines answer one question: will the emulator start on a given GPU and driver. They do not answer whether Vulkan beats OpenGL on your card.

The speed of a backend depends on the driver. A newer driver may improve one API and not the other, and the same API can behave differently on Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA integrated or discrete GPUs. A claim that Vulkan is always faster, or that one emulator is categorically faster, is not supported by the published documentation. If you change the backend, record it, because it is one of the most common reasons two results disagree.
Cold runs versus warmed runs
Emulators translate game shaders into the format your GPU understands. Ryujinx documents a persistent translation cache. According to the Ryubing documentation, the cache’s benefit arrives from the third launch onward, after the game has reached its title screen or further. Before that, a cold run includes compilation stutter that a warmed run will not show.
This creates two different questions, and a comparison should answer both:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Cold run: what the first session feels like, including stutter as new scenes load.
- Warmed run: the steady-state frame rate and frame-time behavior after the cache has been built.
A single average frame rate from a cold run can make an emulator look slower than it will be after a few sessions. The reverse is also true: a warmed result hides the stutter a new player will experience. State which one you measured.

Which build are you comparing?
Build identity is now a practical problem, not a footnote. Any comparison that does not name the exact build is out of date the moment the build changes.
Ryujinx and Ryubing
The Ryujinx documentation states that the original project was discontinued on October 1, 2024, with the quotation: “On October 1st 2024, Ryujinx was discontinued as the creator was forced to abandon the project.” The Ryubing documentation describes Ryubing as a quality-of-life uplift for existing users and says it is not a revival of Ryujinx. If you are testing Ryubing, name it as Ryubing. If you are testing an older Ryujinx build, record its exact version and date, because it will not receive the same updates.
Yuzu
The Yuzu guidance in this article comes from a mirror quickstart. It is not evidence that the mirror is the current official upstream release. Before publishing or comparing results, confirm the source and version you used, and date the test.

How to run a fair comparison on your own hardware
If you want a result that means something for your machine, follow these steps. They are designed so that another reader can repeat the test and understand where your numbers came from.
- Pick one game, one version, and one scene that you can return to exactly. Use the same save file for every run.
- Install the exact emulator build you are testing, and note its version or commit. Do not switch builds mid-test.
- Set the graphics backend, resolution, frame cap, and other settings to the same values in both emulators. Where a setting has no equivalent, write that down.
- Start with a cold run after clearing the emulator’s shader cache. Record the first session, including stutter.
- Run the same scene for the same duration at least three times after the cache has built. Record the warmed results separately.
- Capture average frame rate and frame-time stability, not only the average. Large spikes matter more than a small drop in the average.
- Close other applications and note the power mode of a laptop or handheld, since sustained limits change results.
Record each result with the following fields. A number without them cannot be compared with anyone else’s.
- CPU and exact model
- GPU or integrated GPU, and the driver version
- RAM capacity, speed, and whether it is single or dual channel
- Operating system and version
- Emulator name, build, or commit, and whether it is Ryujinx, Ryubing, or Yuzu
- Game title and version
- Graphics backend (OpenGL, Vulkan, or Metal through MoltenVK)
- Resolution, frame cap, and any settings that differ between emulators
- Cache state: cold, or warmed, and how many launches preceded the run
- Scene, duration, and whether the figure is an average or a frame-time measurement
Upgrades: what the documentation does not establish
The published guides do not say whether a particular motherboard, laptop, power supply, or chassis can accept more memory or a different GPU. They also do not identify the upgrade that gives the best result in a given game. Before buying anything, check the specifications of your own machine: memory slots and maximum supported capacity, supported memory speed, and the power and cooling limits of a laptop or handheld. A component that is compatible with the emulator guide may still be the wrong choice for your system.

When a comparison from another source includes hardware, verify it against the field list above. A result without a driver version or cache state is an incomplete result, however precise its frame rate looks.
