CHOICE also records automatic shut-off after 30 seconds horizontally and eight minutes vertically, timings consistent with the manufacturer’s manual.

Steam ironing
The manual instructs users to fill the tank and set the temperature above the wool setting for steam ironing. Follow the garment’s care label as well as the iron’s instructions.

Steam burst
For a steam burst, the manual says to set the dial to maximum, wait for the ready light, and leave three seconds between bursts so the temperature can recover. This describes the prescribed procedure, not a measured performance result.
Automatic shut-off behavior
According to the manual, the heating element switches off if the iron remains motionless for 30 seconds while resting on its soleplate or side, or for eight minutes while upright. The indicator light blinks until the iron is moved; moving it reactivates the iron as described in the instructions. Treat this feature as a safety measure, not a substitute for unplugging the appliance after use.

Water, cleaning and storage
Choosing and adding water
- The manual permits tap water. In hard-water areas, it recommends distilled water.
- Do not use chemically softened or descaled water, which the manual cautions against.
- Do not fill past the maximum mark. Unplug the iron before filling or emptying it.
- Drain the tank after use.
Cleaning and scale prevention
The manual recommends using the self-clean function regularly: at least monthly in normal water areas and more often where water is hard. Do not add descaling solution; the manual warns that it can destroy the incorporated anti-scale agent. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents and scourers on the soleplate.
Warranty and regional terms
The manual states a two-year warranty and names separate entities for Australia and New Zealand: Spectrum Brands Australia Pty Ltd for goods purchased in Australia, and Spectrum Brands New Zealand Ltd for goods purchased in New Zealand. These terms do not establish worldwide coverage. Check the warranty applicable to the country where the iron was purchased.
