What the RHC906 does
The official RHC906 instructions and warranty manual identifies this as a steam iron, not a standalone garment steamer. Its listed functions are variable steam, a burst-of-steam control, cool spray mist, vertical steaming for hanging garments and curtains, dry ironing, and self-cleaning.

The manual says steam ironing requires the control dial to be at or above the wool setting. At the low end of the steam-temperature range, it recommends using a lower steam setting to reduce water droplets.

CHOICE lists the following product specifications and measured auto shut-off timings. The wattage, cord length and weight are published specifications; the shut-off times are measurements reported by CHOICE, not manufacturer specifications.

Water, cleaning and garment care
- Choose water appropriately: The manual allows tap water, but advises distilled water in hard-water areas. It excludes chemically descaled or softened water.
- Use the self-clean function: The manual recommends self-cleaning at least once a month in areas with normal water and more often where water is hard.
- Follow garment labels: Use the garment’s care label as the authority if it conflicts with the manual’s temperature guide.

Consumer NZ’s RHC906 page, updated in March 2025, labels the model discontinued. That does not rule out remaining stock, but current price and availability are not established by the product pages. Before purchasing, confirm the seller, whether the unit is new or used, its voltage compatibility, and the price in your region.

Warranty terms in the manual
The manual states a two-year warranty and gives Australia and New Zealand terms. This is what the document says, not confirmation that every buyer is eligible or that current support remains available. Check the terms applicable to your location and purchase date with the seller or manufacturer.

The RHC906 may suit someone who wants a conventional corded iron with variable and burst steam, spray mist, vertical steaming, dry ironing and self-cleaning. The listed cord length and weight can help with fit, but they do not establish comfort or ironing results. Since public performance scores are unavailable and the model is listed as discontinued, the decision depends on whether a suitable unit is actually available and whether its price and condition make sense for you.
