RunPod Alternatives for GPU Workloads in 2026: 3 Providers Compared

A practical comparison of three GPU cloud alternatives with provider-listed rates, pricing caveats, and a checklist for matching a service to your workload.

For GPU workloads, the right RunPod alternative depends on how much infrastructure you want to manage and what the full instance costs—not just the advertised GPU rate. The available provider information supports a detailed comparison of three options: Vast.ai, TensorDock, and CoreWeave. It does not support ranking seven providers responsibly, so this guide focuses on those three rather than presenting an unverified “best seven” list.

RunPod alternatives at a glance

Provider Deployment model described by the provider Published price examples Cost detail to check
Vast.ai GPU marketplace with on-demand, interruptible, and reserved pricing; instances can be provisioned through its console, CLI, SDK, or API. Its product page gives an H100 starting example of $0.90 per hour. Storage and bandwidth are billed separately; storage can continue accruing while an instance is stopped.
TensorDock GPU marketplace with pay-as-you-go billing; hourly prices vary by host. TensorDock lists H100 SXM5 at $2.25/hour, A100 SXM4 at $1.80/hour, and RTX 4090 at $0.35/hour. CPU, RAM, and storage are configured separately.
CoreWeave Cloud provider with on-demand and spot multi-GPU instances; its classic pricing page also lists individual GPU component rates. Its North America table lists an eight-GPU A100 configuration at $21.60/hour on demand and $9.51/hour spot. Compare the complete instance and its terms; the multi-GPU rates are not equivalent to the separate GPU component rates on its classic page.

These are provider-listed figures, not independent performance tests or a like-for-like price ranking. The rates were accessed in October 2026 and may change with inventory, host, configuration, and region. A GPU-only rate does not establish the full cost of a workload.

Which provider fits your workload?

Vast.ai: when marketplace choice matters

Vast.ai offers a marketplace model: users can filter listings by GPU model, VRAM, price, and availability, then provision through a console, CLI, SDK, or API. Its listed pricing modes include on-demand, interruptible, and reserved. That variety can suit a workload where you want to select a machine and can assess the listing’s terms rather than rely on a single standardized instance menu.

Build storage and bandwidth into the estimate. Vast.ai’s FAQ says storage charges continue while an instance exists, including when it is stopped, and bandwidth is charged separately. Stopping an instance therefore does not necessarily stop every cost associated with it.

TensorDock: when you want pay-as-you-go marketplace pricing

TensorDock describes its service as a GPU marketplace with pay-as-you-go billing. Its listed hourly figures are $2.25 for an H100 SXM5, $1.80 for an A100 SXM4, and $0.35 for an RTX 4090. The provider says typical prices vary by host, so treat these as listed examples rather than guaranteed rates or a forecast of what a particular machine will cost.

CPU, RAM, and storage are configured separately. Add the resources your workload requires before comparing a TensorDock listing with an instance whose price already covers a larger configuration.

CoreWeave: when you need a multi-GPU configuration

CoreWeave’s current pricing page shows multi-GPU on-demand and spot instances. Its displayed North America table lists an eight-GPU A100 configuration at $21.60 per hour on demand and $9.51 per hour spot. Those are rates for the eight-GPU configuration, not per-GPU prices. Check the instance details and spot terms against your workload before treating the lower spot figure as usable for a run that must not be interrupted.

CoreWeave’s classic pricing page uses a different basis: it lists GPU component rates separately from CPU, RAM, and storage. Examples are $4.25 per hour for an H100 PCIe GPU component and $2.21 per hour for an A100 80GB PCIe GPU component. Do not compare these component rates directly with the current page’s complete eight-GPU instance prices.

How to compare GPU cloud costs fairly

Before choosing a provider, compare configurations that can actually run the same job. A single-GPU component price, a marketplace listing, and an eight-GPU instance rate do not describe equivalent capacity.

  1. Match the GPU. Record the exact model and memory, plus the number of GPUs. Do not treat different A100 variants or an H100 PCIe and an H100 SXM5 as interchangeable based on the model family name alone.
  2. Match the location and availability. Check the region and whether the required inventory is available when you need it. Marketplace inventory and prices can vary by host.
  3. Calculate the full run cost. Include GPU time, CPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth or egress, and any reservation or interruption terms. For a stopped Vast.ai instance, account for storage that continues to accrue while the instance exists.
  4. Match the billing mode to the job. Consider whether the workload can tolerate interruption, whether it needs reserved capacity, and whether a spot rate’s terms are acceptable. A lower hourly price is not useful if the run cannot recover safely from interruption.
  5. Check operational fit. Compare provisioning and automation options, persistence, scaling, setup effort, support, and recovery behavior. The listed interfaces alone do not establish how much work a particular deployment will require.
  6. Verify security requirements. Check isolation, access controls, data deletion, certifications, and contractual commitments with the provider for the specific service and use case. Do not infer those guarantees from a GPU listing or price page.

Why this guide covers three providers, not seven

A seven-provider ranking needs current, provider-specific evidence about configurations, pricing, and workload fit for every entry. The available primary-source detail supports that comparison for Vast.ai, TensorDock, and CoreWeave, but does not substantiate four more providers to the same standard. RunPod’s own alternatives article names other services, including Lambda, Modal, Thunder Compute, Voltage Park, and Massed Compute, but a mention in a competitor comparison is not enough to verify their current specifications or suitability. They are therefore not ranked here.

There is also no independent benchmark in the available provider information to establish which service is fastest or cheapest for a given job. Treat prices as vendor claims, verify the live configuration and terms before committing, and choose based on your workload’s complete cost and operating requirements.
