Can my PC run RuneScape: Dragonwilds?
Compare your PC against every published requirement—not just its graphics card. Check Windows and 64-bit support, processor, memory, GPU model and VRAM, DirectX support, and free storage. Meeting the minimum list is not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution, or graphics setting.

Jagex’s pages disagree on recommended hardware
Jagex’s separate Performance issues page gives different recommended details: Ryzen 5 5600X or Intel equivalent, RTX 2070 8 GB or AMD equivalent, and 25 GB on an SSD (preferred). It also shortens the minimum CPU and GPU descriptions to i3-8100 or AMD equivalent and GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD equivalent. The installation page and Steam agree with one another; Jagex does not explain the discrepancy. Treat the pages as separate published lists rather than combining them into a single specification, and check the current official requirements before purchasing parts.

What settings and steps can help performance?
Jagex recommends lowering in-game quality, closing unused applications, updating graphics drivers and Windows, and checking Windows power management. These are general troubleshooting suggestions, not tested guarantees: Jagex does not identify a universally best preset or publish FPS gains for individual settings.
- Lower the in-game quality: Open Main Menu → Settings → Video and choose a lower Quality option. If performance remains poor, try a further reduction.
- Adjust other video options: Change settings individually to find a balance between image quality and performance. Jagex does not specify which individual options produce the largest gains.
- Close unused applications: Quit programs you are not using while playing.
- Identify your graphics card and update its driver: Press Windows + R, enter
DxDiag, then open the Display tab to check the graphics-card model. Get the driver from the GPU maker and restart the PC after installation. - Update Windows: Check for and install available Windows updates.
- Review Windows power management: Jagex describes Balanced as increasing CPU speed when needed and High Performance as keeping CPU speed higher more of the time. Its support page includes steps to create a High performance plan; names and options can vary across Windows setups.
- Separate online problems from rendering performance: If the issue affects online play, follow Jagex’s connection troubleshooting. If the issue persists, report a possible bug to Jagex.
Does RuneScape: Dragonwilds need an SSD?
The published requirements call for 25 GB of available storage but do not make an SSD mandatory. Jagex’s Performance issues page says an SSD is preferred. If you are considering one because your PC uses a hard drive or lacks free space, check motherboard and interface compatibility and choose enough capacity; Jagex’s published guidance does not establish a universal FPS benefit from installing an SSD.

First identify which component falls below the applicable requirement. A PC can be short on RAM while meeting the GPU minimum, or have capable graphics but an unsupported operating system or insufficient storage; replacing the wrong part may not solve the problem. If comparing with recommended hardware, remember that “recommended” is a configuration target, not a stated frame-rate promise.

- Before buying a component, check system compatibility and the current official requirement pages, particularly because Jagex’s recommended CPU and GPU details differ between pages.
Jagex announced the PC 1.0 launch for 15 September 2026, with Steam and Epic Games Store versions; its installation page also covers Steam and Jagex Launcher installs. Jagex says purchases on Steam and the Jagex Launcher do not grant access to the other version. The launch announcement also lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but the PC requirements above apply to Windows PCs.
