The project is in early development, and Jagex says it expects to share more details in 2027—not that the series will premiere then.
What has been announced?
Jagex revealed the project at RuneFest in Birmingham, UK, and described it as part of an effort to bring the game’s world to screen and expand RuneScape beyond gaming. CEO Jon Bellamy said: “We see huge potential to bring Gielinor to life in new ways, both for the millions who already know and love it and for a whole new audience.” Jagex’s October 3 announcement describes the aim as to “expand RuneScape beyond the gaming ecosystem.”

RuneScape is a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed and published by Jagex, first released in 2001, according to the company’s announcement.
Who is involved?
Jagex names Lyrical Animation and Charlie White’s Meatier Productions as producers. White is also known as MoistCr1TiKaL. The announcement does not name a showrunner, writer, director, cast, or distribution partner. Jagex’s announcement and a GamesRadar+ report published October 5, 2026 both describe the series as being in early development.

What is still unknown?
Neither Jagex’s announcement nor the GamesRadar+ report specifies the plot, animation technique, episode count, release date, or where the series will be available. Those details remain unannounced. Jagex says further information is expected in 2027; that is a window for news, not a confirmed premiere year.
