There were 10,107 female candidates among the JEE Advanced 2026 qualifiers. The reported count is the highest in six years and crosses 10,000 for the first time in that period, according to the IIT Roorkee JIC report as covered by The Indian Express. What percentage of women qualified?
The reported qualification rate was 23.4% of the 43,112 women who registered. Of those registrants, 40,562 appeared in both papers. The comparison rate for 2025 was 21.7%, also calculated among registered women, according to the reported JIC figures.
These are distinct stages: registration, appearing in both papers, and qualifying. The 23.4% figure should not be read as the share of women who appeared in both papers and qualified.

Qualification is not the same as getting an IIT seat
Qualifying for JEE Advanced does not itself guarantee admission. The report, as cited by The Indian Express, recorded 3,814 women admitted through female-only seats and 37 admitted through the gender-neutral pool. Those are admission outcomes, separate from the 10,107 women who qualified.
Top female candidate and overall exam results
The top female candidate scored 280 marks and secured All India Rank 77. Her subject scores were 101 in mathematics, 86 in physics and 93 in chemistry, according to the Indian Express account of the report.
JEE Advanced 2026 was held on May 17 in two sessions. Across all candidates, 1,87,389 registered, 1,79,694 appeared in both papers, and 56,880 qualified, as reported from the IIT Roorkee JIC report by The Indian Express.

The reported category figures show different directions of change between 2025 and 2026. SC and ST qualifier counts increased, while the general-category count and its reported rate decreased. The count comparisons and the general-category rate should be read separately.

The report stated that category-wise, the top 2,50,000 JEE Main 2026 candidates would be shortlisted for JEE Advanced. Because of percentile bunching, 2,50,174 candidates were declared eligible, excluding 394 foreign candidates and 2,058 OCI/PIO candidates, according to the JIC statement reproduced by The Indian Express.
