Check whether your Ryzen NPU is supported
FastFlowLM’s Linux NPU instructions cover XDNA2 hardware. The documented families are Ryzen AI 300-series (Strix Point and Kraken Point), Ryzen AI Max 300-series (Strix Halo), Ryzen AI 400-series (Gorgon Point), and Z2 Extreme. Check the exact processor model: the broad “Ryzen AI” label does not establish compatibility.

Install FastFlowLM on Fedora
The Fedora package route documented by the COPR repository is community-maintained. Follow the repository’s current README because package instructions and dependencies can change; it does not establish a Fedora release compatibility matrix or official support from Fedora, AMD, or FastFlowLM. Enable the COPR repository:
sudo dnf copr enable alessandrolattao/fastflowlm -
Install the package:
sudo dnf install fastflowlm -
Reboot the computer so the installed components are loaded.

The runtime and a sufficiently high memlock limit.
The guide describes flm validate as checking the kernel DRM path. Model execution through flm run uses XRT, so a successful validation does not by itself prove that the execution path is ready. The guide gives general Linux instructions, not Fedora-specific package names for every dependency. Linux prerequisites and troubleshooting
If validation passes but model execution fails
If flm run reports No such device with index '0', investigate whether XRT can see the NPU and whether the distribution’s AMD XDNA XRT plugin is installed. The Linux guide does not establish a Fedora-specific repair command, so do not substitute package names from another distribution without verifying them for your Fedora version.

Understand what “running on the NPU” means
Execution mode varies by runtime and model. AMD describes a hybrid approach in which the NPU handles prompt prefill and the integrated GPU generates tokens, and it separately documents NPU-only FastFlowLM models. These are distinct modes: a workflow that uses an NPU is not necessarily doing every part of inference on that NPU.
AMD’s Ryzen AI documentation also says that llama.cpp at the documented low-level API layer is supported only for the iGPU. Do not assume that a general AMD local-LLM setup, or a model listed for one backend, will run NPU-only under another. Check the backend and model mode in the current documentation. What to expect from this Fedora route
This is a source-based setup path, not a verified Fedora installation or performance test. The COPR is unofficial, and the available Linux guidance does not establish a tested Fedora release, exact computer SKU, or compatibility matrix across kernel, driver, firmware, and XRT plugin versions. Model availability and runtime behavior can also change, so confirm the current COPR README and FastFlowLM Linux guide when installing.
