In PCWorld’s tested games, conventional gaming performance was close, with the lead changing by title. At similar prices, the RTX 5070 is the stronger choice if you want its newer DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support and your games support it. A verified RTX 4070 SUPER at a meaningfully lower price may be the better value.

Which card is better for gaming?
For conventionally rendered performance
Neither card is a consistent, substantial winner in the independent comparison available here. PCWorld’s March 4, 2025 review of the RTX 5070 Founders Edition found that the 5070 was sometimes a little faster, sometimes the 4070 SUPER was ahead, and sometimes they were effectively tied across its tested games. Treat that as a result from that review’s test suite, not a guarantee for every game, resolution, or system. Check benchmarks for the specific games you play and the resolution you use.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →PCWorld characterized the RTX 5070 as capable at 1440p, while also raising concern about whether 12 GB of memory will be enough for more demanding future use. Both cards have 12 GB, so moving from the 4070 SUPER to the 5070 does not increase memory capacity. The concern is a reviewer’s judgment, not proof that either card will fail in a particular future game.

For DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation
The RTX 5070 supports DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation in compatible games. PCWorld describes the feature as capable of adding up to three AI-generated frames between traditionally rendered frames; NVIDIA also describes it in its RTX 5070 launch announcement. It can raise displayed frame rates and make motion appear smoother, but generated frames are not the same as frames rendered directly by the GPU. This feature advantage matters most if the games you play support it and you value the resulting smoothness. It does not establish that the 5070 is faster in conventional rendering.

Use current prices for the exact cards on offer, including shipping and any relevant taxes, rather than comparing a live listing with a launch MSRP as if both were current market prices. A dated PC Gamer price-watch entry from October 1, 2026 showed one PNY RTX 5070 12 GB listing at $779 against its $549 MSRP. That is one retail observation, not a market average or a price guarantee; see the price-watch entry for context.
- Prices are close: The RTX 5070 is the more appealing buy if you expect to use DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation in supported games.
- The 4070 SUPER is materially cheaper: If its condition, seller, warranty, and features meet your needs, its close tested conventional performance can make it the better value.
- The 5070 is priced far above what makes sense for you: Do not buy it just for the newer feature label. Compare other cards available at the same real-world price before deciding.
Check the exact card before buying
The wattage and system-power figures in NVIDIA’s reference specifications do not tell you every requirement of a partner-made card. Before checkout, verify the listing for the specific SKU rather than relying on the GPU name alone.

Quick Recap
- Confirm the seller, return terms, and warranty; take extra care with a used or refurbished RTX 4070 SUPER.
- Check the card’s dimensions against your case clearance.
- Check its power connectors and the PSU requirements stated by that card’s manufacturer.
- Compare the final price of the actual models on offer, not just their launch MSRPs.
- If gaming performance is the deciding factor, look for results in your games at your resolution; one review suite cannot predict every system or title.
