RSS Feed Creators for Blogs and Websites: What to Use and Check

A native feed may be all your blog needs. For pages without one, compare hosted RSS generators by access, extraction controls, updates, integrations, and current plan limits.

Before using an RSS feed creator, check whether your blog platform already publishes a feed. If it does, you may only need to share its URL or add a subscription button. If it does not, hosted services such as RSS.app and FetchRSS describe tools for creating feeds from public webpages. The available documentation supports these examples, but not a verified ranking of 12 products.

Start by checking for a native RSS feed

A built-in feed is usually the simplest route: it avoids setting up a separate extraction service and gives readers a direct subscription URL. Look in your platform’s documentation or settings for RSS, feed, or blog subscription options. Exact paths vary by platform, so do not assume one platform’s feed URL works elsewhere.

Wix example

Wix documents how to add an RSS button through the site editor so visitors can get the blog feed URL. Its guide gives /blog-feed.xml as an example for Wix blogs; treat that as a Wix-specific path, not a general RSS convention. See Wix’s RSS-button instructions and its RSS feed guide for setup details.

When a hosted RSS creator makes sense

If the platform does not provide a usable feed, a hosted generator may be able to turn a public webpage into one. These services inspect the page and expose the resulting feed at a URL readers can subscribe to. Their stated capabilities are not independent proof that every page will work reliably, so test the specific source before relying on it.

RSS.app

RSS.app documents a URL-based generator for blogs: paste a blog URL, preview the result, and save the feed. Its RSS Builder also lets users select page elements such as article titles, descriptions, and images. The company describes widgets and integrations as well. These are vendor-documented features, not comparative test results. See RSS.app’s feed generator and product information.

FetchRSS

FetchRSS describes a visual builder for selecting webpage content blocks. It says the service creates a unique hosted feed URL and updates feeds when new content is added to the source page. That is the vendor’s stated functionality; it does not establish update speed or reliability for every website. See FetchRSS.

Check access before choosing a generator

A generator cannot extract content it cannot access. RSS.app’s FAQ says it does not support password-protected pages or pages that require a login, including gated content. Check whether the exact page you want to follow is publicly accessible, and consult the chosen service’s documentation for its access limits. See RSS.app’s FAQ.

How to evaluate an RSS feed creator

Use these questions to compare a native feed with a hosted generator, or to assess hosted services against one another:

  • Native support: Does your CMS already publish a feed, and can you expose its URL to readers?
  • Page access: Can the service reach the target page without a login, subscription, or other access barrier?
  • Extraction control: Does it identify content automatically, or can you select the title, description, image, and other fields yourself?
  • Hosting and updates: Where is the feed hosted, and how does the provider describe detecting new content?
  • Reader experience: Do you need a simple subscription link, an on-site button or widget, or an integration with another service?
  • Plan details: Check current prices, feed limits, update frequency, and feature restrictions directly with the provider; the available documentation does not support a consistent price comparison.

Why this is not a verified “best 12” ranking

The documented examples establish a native-feed path through Wix and vendor-described webpage-to-feed features from RSS.app and FetchRSS. They do not establish twelve current products, a like-for-like comparison, or an independently tested winner. Rather than pad a list with unverified names, start with your platform’s feed and consider a hosted generator only if that feed is missing or unsuitable. Confirm current features and plan limits with each provider before committing.
